2025/26 David Moyes

Well we don't have anyone who would be a good full back week in week out either, shall we rule out the possibility of playing a back 4 too? Surely whoever the manager is and whatever system they prefer to play, we have to work on the basis that we would be recruiting with that in mind?
For all the jokes about Moyes playing 4 centre halves it is undeniable that this is one of the stronger areas of the squad so it would make sense to play 3 at the back. It would also be a way of playing 2 forwards.

Truffert has been part of a defence that has conceded as many as anyone outside the bottom 3. Who's to say he wasnt right(if true)
I never said he got a free pass. You said he's been here a year. I said it goes back almost 10 to lucas digne. The last decent fulback we signed.
Thats nothing to do with Moyes.
I was, and I am, arguing your point that another manager (using Glasner as the example) wouldn't join Everton because of historic transfer policies, and because Everton haven't signed a good fullback in 10 years.

The point remains that anything prior to TFG taking over the club is utterly irrelevant in regard to who we appoint and will not enter the the thinking of any prospective new manager.

Someone isn't going to turn down the Man City job because they didn't like how Sven Goran Eriksson was treated are they?

Maybe if he took the cups - and penalty kicks - seriously, we could be bringing money into the club with "extra" home matches and saving money on jaunts to Dubai.

I mean we took the fa cup seriously.

We just didnt have anyone to play in the squad and we got to penalties.

Its not moyes fault they decided to take bad penalties.

We don't have the players. I'm not sure we have anyone who would be a good wing back week in week out
Palace didn't have the players to do that before they appointed Glasner.

They went and bought Nunoz and Lacroix; both of whom had experience in that system and who Glasner wanted.
He then adjusted Mitchell's role and he has become a good left wing back; Chris Richards has gone from being a bit part player into a solid right centre back.

I saw Truffert against Arsenal and he stood out...because he turned his back in a cowardly fashion for the first Arsenal goal. On that basis alone, not a natural defender. Simon Kuper in his book Soccernomics has a chapter called "Gentlemen prefer blonds". It refers to the statistical fact that scouts are more likely to select a blond-haired player than a player of any other hair colour - simply because they stand out. I suspect a bit of that with Truffert.
