Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Since you asked the question, from a quick look 13 posters have responded with their experiences (apologies if I've missed anyone).

- 10 said they had very good experiences in terms of organisation, speed, social distancing etc. One reported their Dad had a wait due to a clerical error but noted that everyone else at the centre seemed to be dealt with efficiently.

- 2 people said they had bad experiences, both of whom attended the same vaccination centre, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. The issue in one of these cases seems to have been another clerical error although it does also sound like they might need to improve their spacing of patients.

In conclusion, based on a small GOT sample, the vast majority of people have reported very positive experiences so you shouldn't be worried if you are soon to be vaccinated.
As one of The LHCH attendees I’ve got no qualms about going back for my second dose.

I'm going for my own soon and many more people on this forum will also. It's an attempt to find out what faces us. That's the purpose. I believe people will be interested.

We’ve all told you though mate, it’ll be fine. It’s all very well organised and nothing to worry about. There really is no need to drag out bad things that may happen, because simply they won’t. It’s all in place and after 25,000,000 jabs they know what’s what.......

That's not an accurate reflection of what people have experienced here.

Go to any of the vaccination centres apart from very late on in the day and there will likely as not be a queue and wait. That's ok if the protocols are all in place and observed. I accept they mostly will be, especially at NHS sites. But 25 million jabs in 3 months under these conditions will surely lead to short cuts and inefficiency. It's just natural.
Utter rubbish, carry on

Hospital data:

Another good day with falls almost across the board. Though the reduction is slowing as numbers fall inevitably.

UK total:

Patients 8090 - it was 39, 248 at the peak on 18 Jan - (fall of 31, 158 in 52 days)

Ventilators 1197 - it was 4077 at the peak on 24 Jan - (fall of 2880 in 46 days)

England only:-

Patients: down 288 in day to 6687 v 9092 last week

Peak was 34, 336 on 18 Jan (fall 27, 649 in 52 days)

Ventilators: Down in day 36 to 1101 v 1454 last week

Peak was 3736 on 24 Jan (fall 2635 in 46 days)

Regions:

Patient // Ventilators // change in past 24 hours and v last week

East down 62 to 607 v 927 // down 6 to 102 v 129

London down 65 to 1335 v 1821 // down 3 to 336 v 458

Midlands down 82 to 1483 v 2043 // down 9 to 242 v 295

NE & Yorks down 5 to 1077 v 1444// down 2 to 143 v 202

North West down 38 to 1080 v 1363 // down 2 to 136 v 165

South West UP 1 to 259 v 378 // down 4 to 37 v 53

The falls have slowed somewhat this week, but are still happening.

I think all J&J vaccines should go to third world countries. The West doesn’t need them and have distribution and vaccination processes in place. A single jab with fridge storage should be sent where it’s really needed....

Definitely agree mate, you look at vaccines purchased, despite the mad dash is quarter 1, the EU has purchased 2.3 billion vaccines, the UK 347 million, the west will be awash with vaccines, with many multiples of its population going spare.

Hopefully most of those end with Covax, this thing isn’t going to be tamed until every country can vaccinate to a decent degree.

@Wizard and it also turns out that 'clerical error' was my dad's fault, as he hadn't ticked one of the boxes on the online form, which is why his slip wasn't printed out at the centre.

Unless I missed it, every single actual experience of folk or their relatives getting a jab across the country on here has been positive feedback.

But you seem to have anecdotal evidence of horror stories and it being pretty poor. Funny that. Maybe the folk telling you these horror stories have a similar agenda to your se
No, go back and read what I initially posted. I said sites that were very specific: non-NHS sites.
I had mine at a non-NHS site and it ran like clock-work. It was all incredibly well organised and safe. If you are that nervous about it you should maybe just continue to self-isolate and give the vaccination a miss.

EDIT: Sorry @bigjonny says on the next page he was happy with his experience and has no qualms about going back. I put him in this section as he mentioned it was busy but he didn't actually say anything negative about his trip there. So I have amended. My mistake, apologies.

I'm not worried. I'm trying to understand what the situation is.

It's ridiculous the matter has attracted so much debate. All that was required was experiences. Then the apologists pile in and make it something it's not. Why are they so sensitive about someone trying to find out what's going on?

I had no issues with my vaccination as I have said previously. I do not know anyone who has had any issues, from people I know in different parts of the country. I hate to think of the negative effect that you must have on the mental health of people you know in the real world. It is bad enough having to read your constant, continuous negativity on here. You have become GOT's equivalent of Fraser from Dad's Army. Your life's motto seems to be "every silver lining has a cloud".
