Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I had no issues with my vaccination as I have said previously. I do not know anyone who has had any issues, from people I know in different parts of the country. I hate to think of the negative effect that you must have on the mental health of people you know in the real world. It is bad enough having to read your constant, continuous negativity on here. You have become GOT's equivalent of Fraser from Dad's Army. Your life's motto seems to be "every silver lining has a cloud".
Thanks for your contribution.

I appreciate these posts mate. The one I look out for are the folk who come off the ventilators. It sounds minimal when it's said that 50 or 30 or 70 have come off the ventilators yesterday or the day before. In reality it's a bloody massive drop, it's another life that is fighting from the brink.

I'm going for my own soon and many more people on this forum will also. It's an attempt to find out what faces us. That's the purpose. I believe people will be interested.
Just tell the vaccinator how great Boris is for organising and whipping the NHS Armed forces and Local authorities into some semblance of order. It's very important to do this prior to being stabbed, as this will make sure it won't hurt a all.
Then when done, say thank you by clapping, their little smiles makes it all worth it.

Unfortunately it doesn’t tell you why they have come off a ventilator. Dying is a perfectly acceptable reason to the data.

Definitely agree mate, you look at vaccines purchased, despite the mad dash is quarter 1, the EU has purchased 2.3 billion vaccines, the UK 347 million, the west will be awash with vaccines, with many multiples of its population going spare.

Hopefully most of those end with Covax, this thing isn’t going to be tamed until every country can vaccinate to a decent degree.

I second this, we could have an issue that the UK and western Europe have been vaccinated but the likes of Brazil allow a mutation which can bypass the vaccines to spread and we are back to square one.

At least we would have a vaccine to rework but we need to attack this together to eradicate this virus.

Good news. The political point scoring on the AZ vaccine has been an absolute disgrace and no doubt has resulted in the loss of life across the EU.

Good that countries are finally following the science.

Had my first jab yesterday. No problems with any side effects. Apart from being greeted with a thunderous hailstorm when we arrived at the vaccination site it all went pretty smoothly and quickly.

Went to a mass vaccination site at a building that holds agricultural shows in normal times. So it's used to herding animals in and out ;).

We went through 2 checkpoints outside (where we were told to put our masks on even though we were still inside our car. They checked to ensure we were booked in. Inside gave our details, were then interviewed by a nurse to check certain medical details, and then went onto another nurse who gave the jab which literally took no more than a second. We were given leaflets to explain some side effects we may experience, and asked to remain in our car for 15 minutes before driving away just in case either of us had a serious reaction.

The whole process, from arriving at the site to being back in our car took less than 10 minutes. I did not stand or sit in 1 queue along the way, social distancing and mask wearing was adhered to strictly throughout, and everybody we dealt with was friendly and welcoming.

I haven't spoken to anybody who has had a bad experience going for the jab, apart from some who had mild reactions, such as sore arm or slight flu like symptoms. I really don't understand why anybody would refuse to go through this or, even worse, would try to stop other people going through it, especially as it is so important to saving lives.

To be very fair, the data from trials was a bit messy and incomplete particularly for that cohort, a bit of caution was the best in mitigation i think, but defo good news research has reassured and another vaccine for the over 70s!
