He knows an awful lot about what is going on now though; that the government has demonstrably lied on numerous occasions, for instance.

Also, "disloyal"? lol

Its the way it would be portrayed in the media. Right now he needs to do what he's doing. Its a no win situation. His time will come.

And the NHS full to capacity
You lockdown the lot or nothing at all and let people die in their homes
Longterm. No economy, no NHS. Only reason the lockdown happened is due to health service under funding and pandemic planning being out the window. With those things in place I don't believe the lockdown again happens how it has this time. So I stick by my initial statement. The plan can't always be "oh no, new virus, let's close it all down again." There are other ways I'm sure if Govts prepare. Also people are dying in their homes due to lockdowns be it domestic violence they can't escape, alcohol and drug abuse, suicide from mental illness and death from other illness due to people being unable and or petrified by the media to leave home and go to the doctors to get checked up for things like cancer, heart disease etc etc.

You can't compare,see below

"There is no national figure in Italy for deaths in care homes - the numbers are collated on a regional basis and slightly different measures are being used in different parts of the country.
But, says Eleonora Perobelli, a researcher at the Observatory on Long Term Care in Milan, "the vast majority of officially confirmed Covid-19 related deaths are registered in hospitals".
We do know that the latest UK figures include more than 4,400 people who died "in a community setting'"- in other words outside hospital. We also know that there were relatively few tests carried out in care homes until recently.
But in Italy, we simply don't know how many of the Italian deaths may have occurred outside hospital.
So it is difficult in this case to be confident that we really are comparing like with like."

I doubt our figures are correct.

We cant compare, yada yada yada.

Which is why we've seen Mnisters and their health spokesmen pointing at comparative charts all the way through the crisis....but now 'we cant compare'.

Dave, I agree with you on plenty of footie related points, but I don’t agree with blaming Boris for our covid record.

It’s expected that the UK would be the worst performing nation in Europe...because our population density is higher than other eu nations except for Belgium and Holland.

Their populations are probably far more disciplined than we as a nation are. You only have to look at idiots out on beaches and in parks and having bbq parties the moment the sun comes out, to realise that unless Boris imposes martial law there isn’t much else he can do to reduce the spread.

Then, to top it off, when the likes of Neil Ferguson go and breach the lockdown regulations, and therefore fail to lead by example despite arguing for the lockdown to be instigated, you can see why we were always going to perform badly.

It’s lack of discipline in an overcrowded country, not Boris Johnson, that is the problem.

England = 430 people per sq KM - 195,000 cases, 29,427 deaths

Hong Kong = 6,659 people per sq KM - 1,000 cases, 4 deaths.

It would be disloyal for Starmer to be on TV having random pops at the government when he knows little or no actual detail at this stage and the vast majority of the government are there doing their best in the midst of a huge crisis. That is unless you think the Tories are actually sat there rubbing their hands at the idea of people dying?

The time for rigorous independent investigation will come.
No, I dont. I just think they dont give a flying one other than how much it hurts politically....which is why this disaster has happened on THEIR watch.
