It's possible that the app will be rough and ready with our data, as I've seen little evidence from either the NHS or the tech companies that they really want 'us' to own our own data. Equally, however, I have also seen a few studies (in the context of genomics mainly) showing that people are broadly happy with their data being given up so long as it's used for the common good. That's the key here. If it's used in the right way, I suspect people will be fine with it. If it ends up being flogged off to a third party...

Why are there privacy concerns about new phone app?

The principle worry is the Government’s decision to take a centralised approach, meaning the anonymous data is fed to a computer server.

Critics fear this could open the door to pervasive state surveillance and privacy infringement.

Other countries have taken what is known as a decentralised approach, where the data sharing is kept between devices.

However, the Government insists data will be kept between phones, until the moment an individual needs to get in contact with the NHS.

I dont get the clamour to keep lockdown as strict as it is- we have infection rates and deaths at their lowest since March and new nightingale hospitals sat empty- what was the point in building them in the first place?

Apart from those cushy enough to be retired us poor working age sods need to get back earning crust!

Also, sorry if you've mentioned this before, but what provisions are the Greek government putting in place to cover peoples loss of income?. Especially on the islands you'll be heavily reliant in tourism there so must be getting hit bad, albeit you're probably just coming into season around now.

You don't need to carry papers now stating where you are going now.Some shops have opened (hairdressers,book stores etc)Masks must be used at all times out and about.Beaches remain closed for sun bathing,however you can go for a dip and then leave the area.Restaurants,bars etc remain closed unless for delivery or collection.All here have been fitted with perspex glass on top of their counters.Money is getting very tight (for me anyway)They are paying us 400 euro a month whilst out of work (tourism) I have yet to see mine yet and it's been 6 weeks since the first 400 was due.They have all been warned,if you take the p1ss,lockdown will be brought back tougher than before.

All the stuff you linked earlier basically said it can't be used for the wrong reasons though. So am I correct in saying that anybody found to be doing so is acting criminally.?

The NHSX link also said that the app was just part of a bigger project of TTI, and the government has said that it is employing and training 18,000 specifically for this purpose.

The plan was never to lockdown until there were 0 active cases in the country as its impossible to know the true numbers of infected / the economy will collapse if we keep shut down fully for too long.

I fear for the working age as a good number will be paying for this lockdown with their jobs/homes/businesses and forget such thing as retirement - you'll be flogged until your death to pay off this debt.

Don't get me wrong - I'm as eager for the lockdown to come to a close as much as the next man, but not for bloody barbers or Maccies!

All the things i'm pining for are a bloody age away from happening - Going to the pub, going to a gig, cinema, eating out

I‘m not sure the virus is particularly political one way or the other, it’ll infect anyone. The numbers will be whatever the numbers will be. No two countries will be classifying, recording or counting the same way. So top, middle or bottom of some random table is a waste of time and effort. If you wish to beat Tories around the head for doing what the scientists said to do then get on with it.....

We should have used the Google / Apple app like the rest of Europe.

No doubt because we have used a different app it may affect us travelling into mainland Europe once the lockdown ends.

Im sure someone else will build an interface app to make them all work together.....
