Some disgraceful trick that… disguising themselves as boats now … grrrrrr !!!!I have seen one where they were the boat while the French border police stood 50 yards away smoking cigarettes![]()
I can't understand how they aren't catching the gangsters who are preying on these folk.
Surely, someone can give the authorities a name.
Is that really a police vehicle?…
I find it difficult taking Macron seriously when you see what his police are (not) doing…..

Is that really a police vehicle?
An unmarked VW pickup.?
Most likely the vehicle to tow the boat.
Fake news I suspect
Vehicle has civilian plates. Les flics are investigating it, perhaps to confiscate it, arrest the driver?

Bruce. Anyone entering the U.K. via nefarious means and without appropriate passports or issued visas is illegal, whether you like it or not….
Not if they're claiming asylum, which nearly all of these people are.
genuine questions that the mainstream media wont ask,
what is the attraction of the uk?
why would you risk your own life leaving a safe country like france and put yourself and sometimes your kids into a dinghy to cross a dangerous sea?
what is in the uk that makes it all worthwhile?
First of all, let’s establish that the number of people who've found their way to Calais constitutes a relatively small percentage (less than 2%) of all displaced people who’ve sought refuge in Europe due to instability or persecution elsewhere. Also, the myth that is consistently perpetuated is that the UK takes its fair share of refugees. Since the turn of the century, the UK has taken a fraction of displaced people relative to other neighbouring countries in Western Europe, making the process of applying legally progressively more convoluted for those who, for quite obvious reasons, cannot be seen walking into foreign embassies to formally apply.
Often mentioned (and for good reason), speaking the language of a country cannot be underestimated when it comes to negotiating the asylum process, finding meaningful employment and subsequently being able to integrate into society and make a life for yourself. English is still the lingua franca, and thus it’s not at all surprising that people are trying to make their way across the Channel.
I do some volunteering for Utopia56 and AFAFP in Paris, teaching French to newly arrived refugees to aid them in their integration into society and their navigation of complex french administration processes. Whilst they all make good progress and are incredibly keen to learn, picking up a language (often from scratch) gets exponentially more difficult once you become an adult.
France offers greater financial support for refugees, but the reality is that forty years of UK labour market deregulation since the defeat of organised labour movements in the mid-80s means that there’s a significant arm of that UK economy for those without papers which just doesn’t exist in places with stronger labour laws.
So, equivalent to the population of Liverpool, each and every single year. Who is going to pay to build a new city every year? Are the poor migrants going to pay to build these cities? Even if funded, could we even build that quickly? It's not "straight forward".
Why stop at 500,000? Since you are plucking figures out of the air, why not 1,000,000 a year? Why not 2,000,000 a year? Why not 5,000,000 a year? 700,000,000 people around the world live in extreme poverty. Should we have open borders and invite them all?
the eu isnt a repressive regime!
why are they risking their families lives fleeing france?
If these people have travelled all the way from the middle east to escape war, why not stop in many of the peaceful European countries a long the way?
This is a genuine question, I don't mean to sound callous but I'm curious. It might be the case that the other countries take in just as many refugees as we do and I'm happy to be proven wrong. If anyone knows of any data for this I'd like to take a look.
As mentioned in my earlier post they seem to think that UK is better,
some kind of eldorado.
They can't be persuaded otherwise.
I haven't met any of the rich ones so I can't comment on their motivation.
The fact that the majority of asylum applications are successful would suggest you're talking bobbins. Two opposite views here.
Pete: Youre wrong because asylum seekers are allowed to apply in any country -- whether that means they take a dinghy, hide in the boot of a car or on top of / inside a lorry.
However, an iota of common sense tells you that most of these people are NOT actually asylum seekers as those in fear for their life would not then risk it in this manner when they could claim asylum in another safe European country.
Theres clearly an ulterior motive and, as you correctly state they will largely be illegal immigrants.
Something so obvious to anyone who joins the dots.
Bruce takes offence at illegal immigrants being called illegal immigrants.
