If these people have travelled all the way from the middle east to escape war, why not stop in many of the peaceful European countries a long the way?

This is a genuine question, I don't mean to sound callous but I'm curious. It might be the case that the other countries take in just as many refugees as we do and I'm happy to be proven wrong. If anyone knows of any data for this I'd like to take a look.

Honest question, have you looked into this yourself at all? Been asked so many times on here and thee are a myriad if reasons

the eu isnt a repressive regime!
why are they risking their families lives fleeing france?
As mentioned in my earlier post they seem to think that UK is better,
some kind of eldorado.
They can't be persuaded otherwise.
I haven't met any of the rich ones so I can't comment on their motivation.

The Uk takes around 6% of asylum applications out of the total volume of claims made in all EU countries.

So the simple answer is - the vast majority of people do stop in many of the peaceful European countries along the way.

U.K. suggests proposals to resolve, France throws a hissy fit and it’s toys out of the pram…..nothing changes with Macron…..

There’s a prestige people seem to think they’ll have coming to Britain.

A lot of them will end up applying for citizenship further down the line.

Citizenship is pretty pointless once you’ve settled indefinitely, but it’s a goal for them to become british citizens.

It’s the promised land to a lot of these people. More so than france and Germany, who do take on a lot of refugees themselves to be fair.

But why should France try to stop anybody leaving the country, if they want to leave then the general opinion is, let them go. Just ask the opinion of the people in region Hauts de France.
Maybe the president is playing to internal politics what with the elections on the horizon.

Just like Belarus and Poland…..

But you cannot search for the better in their case, ofc there will always be better in human's life, but they came from a long distance, exhausted and or sick, why go further?

Of course everybody should have a right to chase the best, indeed, but why Belarussians or Moldovans not flee their country in as big numbers as the people from ME? Because while it would have been great in theory, it's still a huge risk

A Belarussian/Moldovan would kill to be in the position of migrants who depart from France. You had the asylum request approved, you can now settle in France, again it's France, arguably the most stylish country in the world, home of Camus and Satre....just why. A human being can learn every language in the world if he tries for long enough.

Though, I would never blame the people whose asylum request denied, they are right to try other destinations.

It would appear that the vast majority of those trying to cross the channel have not applied for asylum in other countries. They are intent on getting to England.
Of course if they had asylum rejected along their way, they would have to leave France.

Imagine not even applying for asylum...
