There’s a prestige people seem to think they’ll have coming to Britain.

A lot of them will end up applying for citizenship further down the line.

Citizenship is pretty pointless once you’ve settled indefinitely, but it’s a goal for them to become british citizens.

It’s the promised land to a lot of these people. More so than france and Germany, who do take on a lot of refugees themselves to be fair.

I think it’s more than that.

A lot of these migrants speak English as a second language taught at school. The U.K. therefore seems a good fit to rebuild their lives and it’s much easier to gain entry and apply for asylum than other English speaking countries like the US, Australia/NZ, or Canada.

In my experience, some of these migrants etc.
I think you're referring to the richer ones, the ones who are prepared to pay.
A lot of the poor ones are not well educated.

Possibly - I also read that the majority of asylum seekers actually apply for asylum in France, Italy, Germany. Sweden It’s only a relatively small percentage that attempt the channel crossing.

some kind of eldorado.
They can't be persuaded otherwise.
I haven't met any of the rich ones so I can't comment on their motivation.

A friend of mine who was studying here from Sierra Leone couldn’t believe it when he saw homeless people here.

I have seen one where they were the boat while the French border police stood 50 yards away smoking cigarettes

They need to sort out the smugglers of this debacle they are earning 100 grand plus for this way of passage , & set up an alyssum centre in France to sort out visas for the entitlement of us accepting refugees - they want to come here because of family already here, plus in France they are not allowed to work but get more benefit than in the UK - Blair , Bush < & Cameron meddled in the Middle East - they caused 70 % of this mess .....
