Why should they?
Popular opinion is that if people want to leave France, let them. Why use scarce recourses to stop them.
Big political issue in the North.

If im from Myanmar and am fleeing for my (and my families) safety.

Do i go to Thailand to claim asylum....OR further to Malaysia/Indonesia...

...or do i travel with my frightened family as far as Singapore??!!

By taking a dinghy and paddling acrosd the ocean...putting my and my families lives at risk.

If there were thousands of migrants from Greenland using the UK as a staging post to get to France I highly doubt the UK gov would be putting too much effort in wanting to stop them.

That said, the people smugglers should for sure be held to account and tracked down with utmost vigour, to do otherwise is remiss.
I read about migrants being forced onto dinghies via gunpoint, callous in the extreme.

Teaching *French* to *refugees*, not English to French people - was trying to illustrate that learning a new language from scratch makes an already difficult situation significantly harder, that's all.

I read somewhere (may be wrong) that her fiance is already in England.

In which case why he didnt apply for her to legally visit is madness.
