Yes I know but again the Royal we isn't me.

Let me ask, are you happy for the homelessness or poverty problem in the UK to get worse by welcoming more and more people?.
The homelessness and poverty is caused by governments unwilling to address it…. How can you spend x amount of millions on HS2 and then claim there’s no money for housing ? It’s a lack of will that’s all.

Yep agree on the HS2 sentiment but again I will remind you of the damage to the environment and climate change in constantly building houses and all the other infrastructure to support it.

Again though, this is down to the government. They run our country, yet you dont seem to be looking towards them for these issues. Homelessness isnt down to refugees or migrants, its down to government policies and lack of help, money and resources.

I hear what your saying but this is a problem a long time in the making, the selling off the housing stock during the 80’s and 90’s was great for people like me who I admit benefitted from it but it bordered on criminal not to reinvest the money made into more housing.

It won’t get worse by welcoming more people, though. It gets worse by more of this sort of government.
Incorrect, the blame can be pointed at this government but there were homeless and housing problems under Labour. In my experience if you are an avid supporter of either of these parties then you are part of the problem in this country and not part of the solution.

Now, regardless of political allegiance the building of houses is not good for the environment or climate change and we need to understand that, and stop concentrating people in parts of the world where there isn't the resources to support them.

@Kurt. I agree about the selling off of social housing, it benefitted alot of people who could purchase something that was theirs and my mother in law was such a person who did so. I also agree that the money raised should have paid for the build of more social housing to replace those sold but also for the population increase but like I said where do we stop or have a rethink.

It seems to me that we have a collision course between humanity and the planets resources and concentrating people in areas under pressure from resource issues isn't the best idea.

100 years ago we weren’t bombing them out of their homes ?‍♂️
Actually, we were, with mustard gas.

As I have said to @Kurt. My point isn't about political will but more about the effect on the environment.

I think in the U.K. at the moment there are something like 60,000 empty council owned properties awaiting modernisation and maintenance… forgive me if my numbers are wrong…. This is the lack of will I talk about, why aren’t government funding local authorities to get these properties up to scratch and habitable…. That’s even before we discuss the amount of sub standard dwellings families are having to live in now …. The money is there … it’s always been there… there’s just no profit to be made in addressing the problems

I fear I am getting side tracked here from my point regarding the environment and climate change.
My wife works for the the local authority and the only social houses in her jurisdiction that are out of circulation for housing are those that are under going repairs due to previous tenants or modernisation for various reasons. I'm not disputing your 60,000 figure but in the case of the City I live in then there seems to be valid reasons for these properties to be out of circulation until the issues are resolved. Otherwise the these properties may be sub standard and end up on slum landlords.

None of this addresses the impact upon the environment.

What a strange argument.

That and welcome and assimilating refugees is good for the economy, with data showing that they once they bed in they, like most migrants, contribute more than they cost, so there is more money for other people
