They don’t flee because it’s a war zone.

They flee because they face persecution in regards to their race, religion, political affiliation or sexuality.

People can claim asylum from all kinds of countries that aren’t war torn, but have certain regions which are dangerous for some people.

You can claim asylum from Nigeria and China for example.
So why are there boats full of young men in the channel then?

Many of the reasons you list qualify anyone to go through the proper channels. Which in that respect , is the positive element of asylum within the country.

I am talking about those who travel from the middle East all the way to the UK by other means. Skipping out the entirerity of Europe to come here specifically, why is that? Why not anywhere else where those reasonings would not hinder them at all.

You have listed genuine reasons for asylum and the country has a policy to protect those people.

genuine questions that the mainstream media wont ask,
what is the attraction of the uk?
why would you risk your own life leaving a safe country like france and put yourself and sometimes your kids into a dinghy to cross a dangerous sea?
what is in the uk that makes it all worthwhile?

I read a report today stating that people were paying the smugglers £10,000 to undertake the perilous journey. Just how hard up are you if you have £10,000 available for a boat ride?

Many of the boat travellers are not hard up. They don't have to be hard up to need to flee a repressive regime.
The poor ones risk their lives trying to jump on trains and trucks.

A lot of the time they don’t pay the £10,000….. that’s the price of crossing .. that money then has to be paid back through working in gangs at car washes, restaurants etc

Same reason there are women and children. They flee persecution. The rules are the same for men as they are women and children.

I don’t know why they choose this country over others. I just know the reasons why the majority of them flee their countries and try to seek refuge elsewhere.

They are not guaranteed asylum upon entry to this country though. They still have to go through the process and can be refused upon a number of reason. Suspicious travel patterns, deception, links to certain organisations etc

I love this perception people have that you rock up on the beach and get handed the keys to a new house and thousands in handouts… I believe a person seeking asylum lives on about £35 a week whilst awaiting the outcome of their application

It's straight forward: coming here is not illegal and we take less than our fair share of migrants.

The UK should be taking 500,000 per year. Not somewhere around 150,000 like we do now. Before people start with the nonsense about no houses etc - here's an idea, build some more.

Jesus …. Another one
Not being funny but if the bloke in the taxi got here by dinghy then it would be far more of a talking point given he was refused asylum and converted to stay here.

Generally speaking I wonder how many 'terrorists' came here through legit means and how many came here and got asylum by the channel method. I don't think I've ever recalled that information being mentioned. It would

Yeah and in the case the other week, can stay for years despite that.

The discussion has to be made about them coming specifically here. People can't really just say it's for X y z when they are travelling across an entire continent and sailing on a dangerous boat just to get here. That part makes absolutely no sense in the context.

There is a reason why they come here and it's not for 'safety' as they hit that west of Russia, the further you go , the more safe you get. So why risk your life to specifically come here?

Honestly I don't have the answer , I'd love to know.

There are loads of them round near me that work on the farms or in the local nurseries, they all live on these caravan sites out in the middle of nowhere hidden out of sight. have met a few from time to time when they come into the charity place where I do a bit of volunteering, You know who they are by the way they act though, constantly looking over their shoulders to check if there is a copper about or anyone else.
