You really must look at the bigger picture Bruce…I‘ve said before that Russia wants a buffer zone between itself and the West. That means Ukraine, Belarus (tick), and the Baltic states. This is not some childish game, this is real life power politics and actions being played out in front of us all...and with our current lack of leadership from the WH, it’s the perfect time to do it. Russia will push into the west and China will push into Taiwan……

There's an entire chapter devoted to this topic in the excellent book "Prisoners of Geography" by Tim Marshall. The whole book is worth a read for anyone who wants to better understand geopolitics, as is "Why the West Rules - For Now" by Ian Morris.

No I got why you thought the distinction made sense, I'm just not sure where it came from as I've never heard such a distinction made anywhere else before, at least outside of the kind of dog whistle rhetoric that results in this kind of article

Surely any person going to work outside their country is an expatriate? But no, the word exclusively applies to white people

The film below is about the transport of Jews from central and eastern Europe to various places throughout eastern Europe, with the specific film below about transports to Belarus, where 22,000 Czech Jews were deported during the war. Just 22 survived. We have short memories it seems.

I enjoyed this book. Bit basic in parts and had a bit of an anti-socialist bias in my opinion. Good analysis of disputed territories and the reasons why though.

What do you mean by "where it came from"?

I offer it as my understanding of the differing circumstances that lead to a scenario in which a person is an "ex-pat" as opposed to those situations in which someone is an "immigrant".

MSM and politicians choosing to misuse the terms, in order to convince the masses that it's a simple issue of race / racism, does not alter the logic of the objective assessment. The fact that some people now treat the two terms as derogatory is simply a reflection of the inroads made by MSM and politicians in manipulating the narrative.

I don't doubt that Russia are involved, I just don't see why innocent people have to die in the Polish woods while the west figure out what to do. Stop the flights coming in, get the people to safety, figure out what to do with Belarus.

You seem happy to sacrifice the poor sods stuck out there with no food or shelter in order to saber rattle.

Sabre rattling against a fairly stable country with little chance of having to actually having any conflicts arise thus its necessary to justify your existence and why your budget shouldn't be cut.
