They were flown in by Lukashenko in the belief that they would be able to make it to Europe. Quite why news hasn't reached Iraq and other source countries that these flights are a scam and are going to lead to intense hardship I have no idea.
Think Nate Schenkkan is bang on (can't RT him as his account is private)

''Not going to excuse what Belarus is doing, but it's notable how utterly European leaders have failed since 2015 to get beyond the traps other countries set for them on the use of migration as a geopolitical tool.

Efforts to control borders physically can't overcome the simple problem that treating migration as an existential threat opens you up to never-ending blackmail from hostile neighbors.''

The word migrant is just what it is, a descriptor for someone who is migrating from one place to another.
It has taken on different associations now and acts only to dehumanise the people in need. You would also, rarely refer to a westerner moving to another country as a migrant. It’s like there is a hierarchy of value in names attached to people moving between countries, with ex-pat (usually white) at the top and migrants (usually non-white) at the bottom.

Nearly 100,000 troops have been moved towards the border, with more on their way. It may only be warmongering or sabre rattling, but equally it may not be.
Yeah the difference between now and last years build up is the quality of the troops and equipment deployed.

This time it’s all elite assault units and top of the range Gucci equipment.

I've chatted to my mate and he thinks it's most likely to be a statement of intent towards NATO, namely Turkey, to not get involved in the area. War? Nah.

Starting to ramp up on many fronts in that region now.
Everyone's eyes focusing in COP26 at the same time as Putin mobilising thousands of his finest on the Ukraine border.

I was under the impression that the U.K. had a huge labour shortage problem in retail,,distribution, hospitality, healthcare and agriculture to name just a few sectors.
These migrants have had horrendous journeys and they must be very determined people so why can’t we let them in I’m sure they just want to work hard and get the young ones educated They may be just what this country needs
