yakubu and the curse of the record fee

Dont get me wrong, if he does [Poor language removed] all for 90 minutes but puts the ball in the net twice then thats sound.

I just think that we could have got better for our money.

Oh?

Who in the striking dept could we have done better than Yakubu at that time?

Well.. Yak have scored for us twice already.. he had a header saved on the line by frantic Boro-defenders this weekend. True he had another header wasted when he jumped too late while finding himself open in the box but still...

I wouldn't compare him to BT since he actually can find the net while, unfortunately, BT couldn't do that for us except from the penaltyspot.

It's way too early to pass judgement either way. But by dropping him after a poor performance, Moyes may have done the best possible thing - Yak now knows that whatever we paid, he's not guaranteed a spot. I think that'll spur him on and come January, I have a sneaky suspicion that DM will be faced with the dream dilemna - having to select a strike pair from 3, 4 or even 5 excellent choices.

I thought Yakubu would be a waste of money too, but his record is brilliant.

If you have any doubts about him, have a look at the two goals we scored against Boro, and who was twice the closest man to the ball going in the back of the net.

He's a poacher, and besides, when was the last time you saw Anichebe have a shot on goal? I cant remember him ever having an actual shot
