He has to go.......

I empathize with any family with a poorly child. But the truth remains regardless of where he plays his child will be taken care of. Whether in this country on the NHS or further afield privately. It is not an issue.

People travel from all over the U.K and further for treatment at Alder Hey and due to his more affluent position than most he is more capable than of affording it.

To finish we cannot afford to pay his wage and not have him play. It could be going to another very much needed addition to the team.

I think Deepak is correct. This man has been paid probably the best part of £3m for doing nothing very much. If he can't play because of his daughter then surely he should agree to leave the club. It's not like he needs the money.

badda bing, badda boom.

Nuff said DP

In all seriousness thats a shocking appearance record for a 28-year old professional footballer, what a waste of space!

Ajax 91
FC Twente 32
Internazionale 32
Everton 18
Damn right..and to think he still draws his wages each week, the wastrel should be ashamed of himself.

If he's healthy, then we ought to try and get some return on our investment.
Too late Bill,way to late

He could play 50 games for us next season, playing a blinder in everyone, even saves a cup final penalty after Timmy gets sent off then run the ball down to the other end and scores with an over head kick it wouldnt be enough for me.

The man should have been cut loose last summer while we had a few bob,if and no doubt it would have, cost us to terminate his contract then so be it,the mans a waster and its time for the club to fess up to one of thier biggest mistakes and stop leading him and us on.

woah, if any player did that in an Everton shirt all would be forgiven in my book, that's the makings of a legend. Shandy Andy or not.

I agree though, he's pratted about far too often and has proven that he cannot be relied on for selection or sometimes even for training. Get rid not the kind of attitude that is welcome at GP.

Anyone have any idea how many appearances Shandy made for the reserves last season? It strikes me that not only does he not play for the 1st team but he hardly ever turns out for the reserves either even when he's not injured.

I dont blame him for not leaving... ill daughter in hospital etc. I certainly wouldn't if I was him, i'd collect my wages and want to be as close to her as possible and not want to play so far away that I couldn't visit her everyday. I think the club should also be congratulated at the way they have kept quiet about his personal situation and not **** him off in public for what will have been a very difficult time for him.

On the flip side though his drinking and lateness for training can't be excused and I was glad to hear Moyes getting though with him over this.

Anyone have any stats handy for his appearance record for the rezzies? For me if he is ever to warrant a chance in the 1st team he needs to show some willing to get match fit, and that means playing for the reserves consistently and producing the goods there 1st

being harsh, everton fc is not a charity. it's our money that goes towards the players wages.

VDM is not a hard up single parent trying to hold down a job while his child is sick. he need never work again being in the current climate of 1 years wage setting you up for life in the prem.

i find it a bizarre situation he is still on the books. as arsene wenger said yesterday, it's gone to the dogs. good players are always trying to leave for more money and bad players are happy to stay and do nothing.

we should call the players on it. i'm not going to give VDM a pat on the back for taking 5 million out of EFC.

I'm confident it's Van der Meyde's year next year. We'll be seeing a bit of this:

that right there is the exact same reason why I can't believe people are still behind this joke of a man that whole message was spot on teppic. I'm really failing to understand why people are still giving this clown the support he's been getting based on the fact that he might be half decent given a run in the first team.

He's nothing but a waste of space and effort get shot of the leach. All he's ever done in an Everton shirt is get pissed not turn up for training and piss his chances away. Not good enough, he doesn't have the attitude required to be an Everton player.

i predict more of the same from this hornswoggler, cant imagine anyone would take him off our hands based on his career let alone the time with us.
bone idle, clog wearing excuse of a pro.
