NO the reason was because he had sent Gerrard off and wanted to even up the sides to appease the r/s as for Shandy I dont think that he deserves or would even want a chance hes happy taking the cash:@:@

I disagree. All Van der Meyde ever wanted to do was play for Everton. When he was moaning to the press in Holland it was about one thing, wanting to play regularly and his dissapointment at being dropped for away games.

He's not an angel I agree and he's made his mistakes but I've never got the impression that he's someone who's just in it for the money. The only reason he doesn't play is because Moyes doesn't want him to. If Moyes used Van der Meyde then I'm sure he'd play.

Van der Meyde for me is a guy who has surrounded himself with the wrong people and has alot of personal problems with his wife and his daughter. I wouldn't say he's a money grabber though. He just isn't aloud to play or even be in cotention.

if he wants to play then howcome he's never sought a transfer to get a game ? after all it's a short career (they keep on telling us) and he's running out of time.

Maybe because he's not wanted by other clubs or because of his daugter. Dominic King did say in the Echo that Van der Meyde's main reasons for staying was his daugher being in a local hospital. She supposedly hasn't left yet.

In all seriousness thats a shocking appearance record for a 28-year old professional footballer, what a waste of space!

Ajax 91
FC Twente 32
Internazionale 32
Everton 18

That's 19 games a season.

And a season lasts approximately 38 games which is 3420 minutes of league football, let's ignore the cups etc...

So let's say he started when he 19. 9 years ago, 9 years x 3420 minutes = 30,780 minutes of possible league football. So he has basically turned out in 50% of the matches he has been available for. Ok he may have been injured, but [Poor language removed] me - what a cart horse.

The reason Moyes wants nothing to do with him is his attitude to say hes not a angel is a bit of a understatement,we were all delighted to sign him,as was Moyes and with our small squad I am sure if Moyes thought for one second that Andy wanted to play and showed that sort of attitude in training things would be different personally for all his undoubted talent I will be glad to see him off the pay role as for surrounding himself with the wrong people there is only one person to blame for that.

i brought his name up with the dutch on holiday and they just rolled their eyes and said he was a waste of space when he left holland, and cant believe everton havent sacked him, his incidents are reported over there and they think he's a tosser.

I agree with all of this but none of it makes him a money grabber like alot of people seem to think. At the end of the day he doesn't play because Moyes doesn't want him to play.

Obviously thats his fault but it doesn't mean he isn't interested in making a career here. He's made mistakes which have gone against him. Everyone makes mistakes.

Re: Andy van der Meyde
I doubt he'll leave. His daughter is sick and he doesn't want to move to another country or City. Once she is better I'm sure he'll move on.

he could actually take whats known as parental leave whilst she is ill or even a sabbatical. i have kids myself so have sympathy for him on that front but not for the other things. he could take the time off and then move on.

True we all make mistakes but he never appears to learn from his ,as for not being a money grabber I might be wrong but I thought all the time hes been messing about he was also taking his rather high wages and is happy to sit here doing nothing ,when he has had the chance to move to clubs where he would start with a clean sheet, sorry mate I normally agree with what you say but on this we are miles apart(y)

seeing as ive put toxtethblues post up from another forum, ill have to put another one up that i found whilst looking for info on van der payday.it was in the liverpool daily post, i fhe was more open about this with the fans i dont think he'd get as much stick, i know its his business but he's also in a position to help alder hay who are helping his child.
coyney wrote:Sorry boys but while his child is in need of Alder Hey he wont go any where and as much as I agree with the sentiment,if it was my child I would stay as well, see the barcodes have offered Barton half pay or the sack wish we could do that with Shandy.

I get the horrible feeling that the reason we still have him is that we are skint. I hope I am wrong and he has bucked his ideas up, got fit and is starting to look the part.
