I can’t remember.........did the UN go into the Yugoslavian war with weapons, or just as peacekeepers? Why can’t the UN get involved in Ukraine?

UN Peacekeeping force in Yugoslavia came about as a unanimous resolution of the Security Council (including Russia and China). At this point doubtful China would agree and, certainly, not a chance the Russians would accept such a force sent to Ukraine.

China will always go with Russia if it feels it won't harm their interests.

India could be a big player in the world game and is currently on the fence I feel, in border conflict with China and in danger of falling in with Russia more through fear than love.

Think that is why there was such a swift leaking to the media of the reported initial contacts.

Get both Russian and China to deny it and stop it in its tracks as once that ball is rolling then all parties would find it hard to backtrack without losing face.

Neither USA or China really want to be entering into a massive trade war right now you'd hope.

Would be beneficial for sure, but I suspect it would be tough for a lot of reasons, including the recently announced plan for India to buy Russian oil that I just read about today, as well as the long partnership w/Russia mostly out of convenience as an anti-China stance (China has literally hemmed in India with diplomatic agreements, trade, infrastructure-building, and even military bases with island nations in the Indian Ocean--the Chinese presence in Madagascar where I work has gone up like 10x in the last 20 years); doesn't help that Modi is a right-wing populist/nationalist despot-in-waiting either. Crazy political dynamics going on.

But I wouldn't expect you to hold them to account for actually telling the truth. Incidentally, the UN Human Rights Council stated that the policy was as inhumane as it was unlawful, which again, I wouldn't expect you to ever hold your beloved ones to account. Just like Kopites, always the victims, it's never your fault.
