Russian fills fridge with McDONALD'S after restaurant suspends trading

To be fair I agree with Bluerover, we all know how to find those sort of things online and the last thing I’d want is for somebody to accidentally click on it or a younger person on the site going in to take a look at some of the horrors going on over there

The sight of kids pulling their little wheelie bags in the snow not having a clue where their future lies is enough to demonstrate the monstrosity of this war. There are thousands of ordinary decent people being killed, wounded and made homeless because of this egomaniac.

However, I don't want to see videos of anyone being killed, even Russians in tanks.

I thought we had left all this behind.

Here here mate, very well said. I do have to admit though, nothing brings a smile to my face like the sight of a Ukrainian farmer towing off a war machine in his tractor

I don't know how he can actually say some of the things he's coming out with. There is propoganda and then there is this drivel. Surely he can't believe the nonsense he is spouting

He does and so do many others! My wife works with a girl who is from Russia originally, who has lived in England for 20+ years! She firmly believes every single word that comes out of Putin and his mob’s mouths! She was watching Russian TV news until it got switched off, and refuses to believe anything off the BBC or Sky - apparently they have got it all wrong and it’s just propaganda for Ukraine!
If it was me working with her I’d be asking her why she came to live here then, and suggest she gets back over there asap!

As far as the UK is concerned we come under NATO's Active Layered Theatre Ballistic Missile Defence (ALTBMD) programme that is supposed to provide complete coverage for NATO countries against tactical ballistic missiles with ranges up to 3,000 km. We are also linked into the US GMD system for ICBM defence.

There are two Ballistic Missile warning sites located in the UK and they are linked into this ALTBMD system as well as the US GMD system (The GMD system can intercept ICBM at ranges out to 10,000 km

ALTBM Interceptors are based around the Aegis system deploying SM3 BIIA missiles based in Rota in spain (4 x US Aegis destroyers) - other interceptors include sites in Turkey and Romania (these are land-based Aegis sytems). Other land-based Aegis sytems are due to be installed in Poland. Not sure about how the US GMD system is setup.

I think BMD (Ballistic Missile Defence) is the one of the main reasons Putin kicked off over Ukraine as in theory it blows the principle of MAD (Mutually assured destruction) out of the water. By this I mean that an aggressor who has a BMD system could in theory launch a nuclear first strike on an opponent. Once the opponent sees the launch of nukes it would immediately launch its own missiles back (MAD). However the aggressor here employs his BMD to knock out all the incoming nukes in low earth orbit - ergo, the theory of MAD no longer exists.

But what's stopping the west launching defensive missiles to counter Putins nuclear first strike while simultaneously launching offensive missiles in to Russia?
I presume it has something to do with low orbit missiles and Russia launching enough to keep western defenses occupied.

Sadly it would lead to thousands or even millions more deaths. Russia has access to a huge arsenal of nuclear weapons including on submarines all over the place. Our only hope is that economic starvation leads to him being taken out. Just so sorry for the innocent Russians that will suffer. However, nothing compared with the Ukrainian people.

Interesting. It will be fascinating to see the future of the Russian/Chinese relationship which, as always, is fraught. As Russia’s decline is accelerated, I wouldn’t be surprising to see China attempt in the next 15-20 years to reclaim some of its resource-rich land in Siberia
