If he did, I concur with his assessment completely. Half of Ukraine's shale gas reserves are in those regions.

Having said that, if ceding Donetsk and Lugansk was the price Ukraine had to pay for getting Crimea back I can see why Zelenskyy might consider it.
Even if Putin and his cabal were to be abducted by aliens there is no way Crimea would be ceded. Anyway moot point as Zelenskiy has apparently told Russia to stick their proposal up their donbass.

Why ask me that question?

I don't get why people in this thread are so hostile to others for posting. Suggesting reason for action says nothing about right or wrong, just reason.

Nothing I said alluded to right or wrong.
Stop getting so uptight mate , its just a question.
Upto you if you chose to answer , or not.

I can't see how the Ukrainian government can possibly accept those terms.

Throw in a condition that if Russia invades again and that would immediately trigger NATO membership for Ukraine, to test the honesty of their stipulation to not join any bloc and that has to be the best way out.

Putin has damaged his premiership beyond repair, hopefully once he goes then that is open to renegotiation with a Russian premier who looks forward and not back. Ukraine can still have closer trading ties without being a part of the EU until then.

Maybe not a NATO one, or the EU, but a standing UN Security Council resolution might be better.

Those conditions, yes, very logical.

Accept whatever now, then what’s to stop them coming back in a year or so and taking the rest.

Nothing apart from their own efforts and that of the rest of the world (who will hopefully used the time to organise diplomatically, rearm and remove dependence on Russian oil, gas, wheat etc).

Unless Ukraine win the war then they don't even get that point as Russia will have all of it anyhow. Not to mention how many lives will be lost in the process. We will still be sanctioning Russia after this and if that creates a regime change then hopefully things can be more assured for easing of those sanctions.
