Unfortunately the war will continue until Ukraine is under Putin's influence the plight of Ukrainians will also continue, will be news for a while, and then we will get bored, then sanctions will ease. That's how it ends. No confusion really. The game now will be, what's next for Putin.

Which is why increasing European defence to the point we can defend ourselves is so vital. Do that, remove the potential for influence operations and switch to more secure food and energy production and we can perhaps do what we did during the Cold War (if they are bent on aggression). Show weakness (which includes not substantially reforming) and we are boned.

They can’t, but they’ve got to be shown as such. Ukraine should engage publicly on this basis; if it’s still lies then we might see some of the rest of the world move (if only by seeing how the Russians and Chinese are going to be no better or worse than the Yanks).

Here comes the Trump fan boy. You are utterly deluded mate. Without the U.S. (led by yes, Biden) the NATO response would be far less effective and Putin would act with impunity. He will regret this rash invasion because the sanctions imposed will cripple his economy. Trump has all of sudden stopped cheering Putin on because he knows he has f'd up on this one. Trump was the worst Potus in American history and is possibly compromised by Russia. It's not just me saying that, many people in the intelligence community believe so. He also asked if a Finland was part of Russia.

Perhaps not getting them to begin with caused all of this? As reports have said Russia behind schedule, not going to plan etc. Maybe the plan was to park up on the border and Ukraine to give in to their demands. When they didn't , Putin then had to send his troops in because he would have looked a tit if he then hadn't.

Would explain why it's disjointed and lacks a real shock and awe approach that a country like Russia is more than capable of with advanced planning.
