Not saying this is the right peaceful solution but if we can't actually come to an agreement because they can't be trusted, does that not leave us with only one option?
There has to be a way out of this , but we are talikng about a dictator that lie's and canives at every opportunity.

His key words are "demilitarize Ukraine" yet now The Kremlin saying Ukraine can do what it wants !
So any time in the future they can just walk into Ukraine without any resistence ( which they will ) and consume the country.
Many stategists fortold this was going to happen yet where totally ignored.

Again No , Not to be trusted.

Perhaps not getting them to begin with caused all of this? As reports have said Russia behind schedule, not going to plan etc. Maybe the plan was to park up on the border and Ukraine to give in to their demands. When they didn't , Putin then had to send his troops in because he would have looked a tit if he then hadn't.

Would explain why it's disjointed and lacks a real shock and awe approach that a country like Russia is more than capable of with advanced planning.
So that makes it right ???

Many political analysts believed a lot of the conflict in Syria was over Qatar and Russia competing in the gas market.

Qatar has the largest known gas field in the world within it's territory. The exploitation of the reserves really started to ramp up in the late 2000s. Qatar, EU and US wanted to build a pipeline from Qatar routing northwest to link up with the European gas pipe network starting in Turkey, to increase volume, and thus vastly lower the cost of supply....with the added benefit of reducing reliance on Russian supplied gas to Europe, and all of the political leverage that went with it.

Only problem was, the routing of the pipeline would have taken it through Syria. The Al Assad government blocked the planning process at the first opportunity....The same Al Assad government that was kept in power by huge military support from none other than....Russia! Figures.

Ugh.

Thank you for the added context. Why does it always seem to be about greed!

The trouble is the Governments position is one extreme. You're allowed one close family member but they can't bring any of their close family members with them. It'll cause families to split up at the worst possible time that could happen. Throw in all the paper work = virtually nobody is coming.
It's pretty disconcerting. Russia actively named Czech (and America) as an enemy of the state this week, and while logically you would assume that there would be a few other countries they'd bother with before CZ, we have nonetheless been having conversations with family about worst-case preparations. Practically, we could probably put up quite a few of the family, but it does make you wonder how many the government would actually let in.

He isn’t, but that needs to be demonstrated to the world. Half of the planet thinks this is a Western problem and they deserve it anyway; we need to show them what Putin and his ally are going to do to us all if we don’t unite.

You won't need more than 1 spare bedroom if that.

Was it @Mutzo Nutzo who was saying about Donetsk and Lugansk as being key areas for the Ukraine economy through energy sources?
If he did, I concur with his assessment completely. Half of Ukraine's shale gas reserves are in those regions.

Having said that, if ceding Donetsk and Lugansk was the price Ukraine had to pay for getting Crimea back I can see why Zelenskyy might consider it.
