Will Biden have the balls to say anything in his State of the Union ?

No idea if he’s allowed to ?

Some address that by Biden there.
It was interesting. He more or less explicitly rejected globalization, which is interesting in the context of a multilateral approach to the present security question via the provision of arms and economic sanctions.

I don't know that he can deliver, given his stance on the minimum wage and that the whole point of globalization was to exploit wage disparities. A more feasible and saner, though less populist approach would be to fix the materials, energy and food pipelines that are driving present inflation, but that requires multilateral cooperation that may be hard to secure.

He's obviously tacked rightward in the hopes of giving the Republicans enough of what they want to get some of what he wants via issue linkages. A quick check of Fox's coverage on their website suggests that they totally omitted any discussion of Biden's statements regarding inflation. I suspect that they'll continue to fight tooth and nail to block anything he attempts to do, the better to flip Congress in November.

My sense is that Kernell's analysis of Reagan's strengths is limited to that era, and that successful presidential appeals to a disengaged public are impossible when media coverage is as slanted and partisan as it is today.

I hope I'm wrong.

Probably needs to move to another thread but it sounds a little like the “big tent” of the 1980s set up in the other party. Draw as many sane people out of the GOP as possible with ideas that have broad public support, and then call out the remainder as treasonous anti-American scum (which of course they are).
