Stock market closure will be down to Russia. No way to know how long it will be shut for. Why open it?

FX market is during weekdays but the institutions are now banned from trading the majors so...

They may as well close all the banks too.

I give this until Monday when there will be a revolt and I dont believe Russia will be able to pay the army then either.

Surely all the planes and weapons being delivered within Poland will make quick work of those sitting ducks.
Well the issue is getting them to where they're needed, Zat.

I wish that another country could go in, like the UK for example, and get rid of that convoy/stop it (while limiting loss of Russian life as much as possible), but they can't. So it has to be left to the Ukrainians and it seems getting that weaponry to them is going to be very difficult.

In the near term, Ukraine is unlikely to end up either in NATO or part of Russia. I'm not interested in trying to forecast 5-10 years down the road, given this level of uncertainty.

War was not inevitable, but avoiding it would have required a serious rethink among the US and its allies about how to address Russian security concerns. He is opposed to us because we are a security threat. This caused him to support our adversaries to keep us busy, and sow division within our ranks.

If we had wanted to avoid this, we would have needed to treat him as a fact on the world stage, rather than an adversary to ultimately depose, and figure out what he would have wanted in security guarantees in order to behave himself. The things he put on the table during the run-up were non-starters, which tells you that he wasn't serious about peace by that point.

We would have needed to do some horse-trading prior to reaching that point.
While I agree with this, I'm baffled a man who has literally been proven to poison and assassinate his political opponents has even managed to stay in power this long... that's where other countries have let Russia down too, surely.

Don’t bother mate

No one here listens

They think putin will lose the war and be removed within 48 hours
If the cap fits!

There’s not one person on here who has said that or almost certainly even thinks that so not entirely sure why you have made that up! Pretty much every right thinking person though does want Putin to lose “the war” I’d imagine however unlikely that may be at the moment, and those same people would want Putin “removed” (however that happens!) at some point in the future!

Certainly Putin has picked a target that he can isolate from the rest of the pack. It's a very cold calculation he has made here. I wonder where the west actions sit on his acceptable outcomes.

I don't think anyone in the West could risk escalation against him now. Dictators die and empires fall. I just hope in this case he his gotten rid off very quickly.

As was the case for Hitler's fascists after WW2. The world will not forget what Putin and his cronies are doing here.

Also, can we have a day off from the Putin fanboy stuff please, Kev. Maybe go and look at the poor little girls and boys that the Russians have just murdered and reflect upon it.
He should have been gone after that Grozny stuff. Cant believe barely anybody cared at the time

Because as has been said here before - of course no one listens - all his tactics are modus operandi. It’s how the Soviets stayed in power for decades.

I would like to see Putin lose his grip on power and Russia to remove itself immediately from Ukraine.

How likely is this to happen? No idea but it would be a good thing. I put it right up there with the hypothetical if you could kill Hitler before he came to power question. It will save millions of people from directly suffering.
