️Ukrainian operators cut off communications to the occupiers, blocking access of telephones with Russian numbers to their networks, the State Special Communications Service.

Communication is one of the key elements of effective combat.

Having lost the opportunity to call from their numbers, the occupying forces are increasingly taking away phones from citizens.

We call on Ukrainians whose mobile phones have been confiscated by representatives of the enemy troops to inform the operator as soon as possible and ask them to block the stolen phone. We understand that doing this when the phone is taken away is not an easy task.
However, this is very important - find neighbors who have a phone, use a landline - it depends on the security of our state and the lives of Ukrainians.

Need to preface these questions: I am against all war and my heart is with the Ukrainian people, as it is with he Russian soldiers compelled to fight this war

Do you think Ukrainians will ever be independent or will Ukraine just end up either in NATO or Russia?

Do you think it was inevitable, once US and European interests/markets were able gain advantage in Ukraine at Russia's expense, that Russia would go to war?

In the near term, Ukraine is unlikely to end up either in NATO or part of Russia. I'm not interested in trying to forecast 5-10 years down the road, given this level of uncertainty.

War was not inevitable, but avoiding it would have required a serious rethink among the US and its allies about how to address Russian security concerns. He is opposed to us because we are a security threat. This caused him to support our adversaries to keep us busy, and sow division within our ranks.

If we had wanted to avoid this, we would have needed to treat him as a fact on the world stage, rather than an adversary to ultimately depose, and figure out what he would have wanted in security guarantees in order to behave himself. The things he put on the table during the run-up were non-starters, which tells you that he wasn't serious about peace by that point.

We would have needed to do some horse-trading prior to reaching that point.

Reckon Putin would only have gone to war only with the backing of the power behind him.
Putin's leadership is based on that power knowing that he would go to war if Ukraine countered Russia in favor of the West.
He's not a mad man as the narrative will tell you, he's a man that will do anything not to be the Russian who let Russia crumble.

If that is his goal he might want a bit a rethink, severe recessions aren’t great at building up a country.

No it doesn’t, even without Ukraine Russia is a huge country with many valuable assets they could and have marketed.

And perhaps Ukraine would be a tad more pro Russian if Putin didn’t keep on invading and shelling bits of it.

More familiar with US financial stock marlet than global so wouldn’t like to guess on how long Russian stock market will shut it for - New York stock exchange was closed for 4 months in 1914 but in more modern times they have closed it for much shorter times eg 2 days after Sept 11th.

Never traded forex but iirc there isn’t really a centralized market like stocks and trading is done 24hours.

Stock market closure will be down to Russia. No way to know how long it will be shut for. Why open it?

FX market is during weekdays but the institutions are now banned from trading the majors so...

They may as well close all the banks too.

I give this until Monday when there will be a revolt and I dont believe Russia will be able to pay the army then either.

Satellite imagery company Maxar Technology says that earlier reports indicating the column of Russian armour advancing on Kyiv is 17 miles (27km) long are inaccurate.

The convoy actually stretches about 40 miles, according to Maxar.

The company added that new images also show ground troops and attack helicopters in southern Belarus, less than 20 miles from the Ukraine border.

I know those two subjects above are irrelevant but I wonder how far he/we let these sanctions go before it turns in to a humanitarian crisis. They have enough land to feed themselves but it's not that simple if your infrastructure's f'ed due to everything else. This is a seige on another level.

Think he'd be happy to see his people rot, as long as it sowed hatred.
