The Ruble can definitely go lower mate, even if the Stock Exchange remains closed.

The interest rate hike will strengthen, or rather steady the Ruble.

If I was Putin I would be worried about the economy.

If army / oligarchs largely turn against him due to a big financial hit it may be his turn to fall oot a window!

No, I'm still here. I've donated blood today, however little this is helping...Plus I'm too chicken to flee. A bus of people that were trying to flee was shot down by Russian army and burned down this morning. A horrible, horrible fate.

can you pls tell me Legs if you know how long can the Russian market remain closed? like for a week or even longer? As I read, if it remains closed rouble cannot go any lower, but there must be some headaches in the long run probs?

More familiar with US financial stock marlet than global so wouldn’t like to guess on how long Russian stock market will shut it for - New York stock exchange was closed for 4 months in 1914 but in more modern times they have closed it for much shorter times eg 2 days after Sept 11th.

Never traded forex but iirc there isn’t really a centralized market like stocks and trading is done 24hours.

The only thing I can say is I don't know. A lot of this depends on US sanctions, because that ties up a lot of global money, but sanctions come in all shapes and sizes. But the sooner a peaceful resolution is reached, the more likely sanctions are lifted.

No, you would just have to have a small amount of money, relative to the entirety of the portfolio, that you were willing to risk in its entirety to chase the possibility of massive returns.

I'm sure that there are ways, but you won't be able to just call up your broker and place an order.

Theres no single exchange. Most countries have their own exchange.

I dont know of a rule about how long a stock exchange can stay closed for. But it's a disadvantage for it to be closed.

It probably doesn't follow that wars would be eliminated if all leaders were elected through free and fair elections, but they would probably be a lot fewer and further between.
