I stand to be corrected, but I'm sure that I read somewhere that in the late 90's, that someone in Zelenskyy's improv comedy group made a crack on a Russian comedy contest TV show comparing Putin to Beavis and Butthead when he first started bombing Chechnya?
Apparently it was Putin's favourite show at the time, and he was there in the crowd, and if looks could kill...

It wouldn't be like a petty, egotistical, narcissistic sociopath would hold on to a grudge for 2 decades, would it?

I can just see him in his office watching as every Russian missile lands somewhere in the Ukraine and thinking: 'Who's Beavis and Butthead now?!'

And wasn't even a good joke. I read some of Zelenskyy's improv comedy group's jokes...

And let's just say that if his war effort to fight the Russian troops off was on the same level as his comedic talent, the war would have been over in a week, and it would have been a bloodbath!

It's over for Ukraine regardless, It's been obvious since the start and said numerous times that NATO will only supply Ukraine until it's obvious that Russia pose no threat to other countries, that point has likley been reached, it will take Russia a generation to replace lost equipment and that's if sanctions are lifted.

It’s not the economy though, it’s their ability to import specialised kit to manufacture m/maintain their weapons etc - this is where sanctions are hitting

If a wartime economy is what's keeping their economy above water then they are not doing well.

The European Commission will on Tuesday propose how the EU can boost its arms industry and shift to “war economy mode”. Thierry Breton, the European industry commissioner, will lay out proposals to encourage EU countries to buy more weapons together from European companies, and to help such firms increase production capacity, according to EU officials.
