Anyone else have the feeling that now defeat does not look inevitable the Western powers feel more emboldened or, worse, required to ask?

At first, they may have thought sending weapons would incite Russia and probably be wasted, whereas now Ukraine appears to be doing better than expected.

Additionally, Russia may not be appearing as strong as first thought.
What we do know is that Russia has shown very little of its military hand so far.

If the west thinks thats some kind of green light, then thats up to them.

Cant have the 'offical' military go in. That gives Putin an excuse to go loco.

You 'can' have others go in as of course Putin is trying to do by having the Chechen and Syrian mititia groups enter Ukraine.

Any atrocities they commit he can claim have nothing to do with Russia...as weve seen so far hes using warped logic.

I believe a 'private' force could enter Ukraine from the 'Allied' side in conjunction with actual sanctions rather than this pitiful political posturing

Zelenskyy: Please inflict severe sanctions and support us with anything you can.

US: Please abandon your country.

The entire world is watching and I for one have huge admiration for the Ukrainians.

US and key European leaders are a disgrace.
yeah I know Zatman, just hard times

It really was. I love Lincoln. One of the great heroes of humanity. However that was a massive mistake from the GOP of the day, and they were warned what would occur.
Although to be fair, he outlived the war by less than a week. I’m sure he had a huge influence in the overall post-war plan, but it was ultimately Johnson, his cabinet and probably Grant to some degree that actually carried it out.

Think this is a bit off tbf. They are just footballers doing a job. Yes of course criticise the invasion, Putin and the Russian government, but dont have a go at footballers

I'm not saying they are.

It was a broader point about compromise, and that being prepared to compromise is a perfectly natural and normal way to operate when looking to find a resolution.

And Russia didnt fund rebels, until a coup, backed by Nazis targeted Russian speakers in the country. So we can play the blame game all we like.
Putin has been looking for a reason to do this, and a time, for years.

Russia's threats to Finland and Sweden say enough.
