Does it really matter who owned what in the past? Britain controlled Ireland in the past, if they decided they wanted to do so again should we just say "OK fair enough god save the king" I can assure you I'd take up arms as fruitless as it would seem.
Well a large part of your country still is occupied by invaders and that’s not going to change.

I may have this wrong, but after the break up of the USSR, didn't Crimea become an autonomous region, and later peacefully chose to join Ukraine. As far as I can tell (and as I said I could very easily be wrong), Crimea has never been part of Russia

You are wrong - it was part of Russia from its conquest in the 18th century, up to the mid-50s when the then Soviet leader Khrushchev transferred it from Russia to Ukraine (both then constituent republics of the Soviet Union). He did this probably to help forestall inevitable criticism when he revealed what Stalin did during the purges (he was in charge of Ukraine for some of that time and killed many himself).

When the Soviet Union broke up, Crimea did not go as willingly into Ukraine as the rest - they wanted genuine autonomy and Kiev did put down that movement.

Not quite the point though.

“The president is starting this discussion to put a clear ‘equal’ sign in the mass consciousness between wartime corruption and treason. Strengthening the punishment for corruption crimes and removing the possibility of release on bail for those accused of corruption is a demonstration of the seriousness of his intentions,”

I never took you to be one to be suckered into conspiracy theories Dave.
He'll have to sling himself in jail then because he helped his oligarch boss Kolomoisky set up offshore bank accounts to squirrel away money from the Ukrainian state.

In 2020, he was indicted in the United States on charges related to large-scale bank fraud. In 2021, the U.S. banned Kolomoyskyi and his family from entering the country, accusing him of corruption and being a threat to the Ukrainian public's faith in democratic institutions. Citing the ongoing U.S. criminal investigation, Zelenskyy stripped Kolomoyskyi of his Ukrainian citizenship in 2022. Later that same year, those of Kolomoyskyi's assets deemed to be of strategic value to the state in light of the Russian invasion were nationalised. These included Ukraine's largest gasoline companies. In 2023, Kolomoyskyi was arrested by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on charges of money laundering and fraud, and placed under pre-trial arrest.

Just in case anybody isnt aware that you are yet again lying.
