Crimea has been ‘Russian’ for nearly 10 years already.

There comes a point when you have to question whether the potential strategic gains for the west justify the human cost of the people they are apparently supporting.

For me, the equation fell apart long ago.

TBF if they did want to pressure the Russians into a peace deal favourable to Ukraine, putting Crimea at greater risk would be a good way of doing it. Putin can (and is) fight all over the parts of the four oblasts annexed late last year, but Crimea is another question.
