I may have this wrong, but after the break up of the USSR, didn't Crimea become an autonomous region, and later peacefully chose to join Ukraine. As far as I can tell (and as I said I could very easily be wrong), Crimea has never been part of Russia
They’ve had a referendum on the issue since and it voted overwhelmingly to Join Russia

So yes you are wrong

Can’t be bothered to debate stuff with you when you don’t have the basics

I am asking about before Russia invaded it in 2014. Has it been part of Russia before then, or did it go from USSR, to autonomy to Ukraine?
Of course it’s been part of Russia before 😅😅

Russia didn’t just begin in in 1991

But it went from USSR to Ukraine after the end of the Soviet Union

ZELENSKY'S 'BAD MOMENT'

The Ukrainian leader resorts to lies and threats at the tail end of a failing counteroffensive

Imigine someone lying.. like that time Putin told Russians that people in the UK had to have turnips instead of tomato in their salads.. Around the same time as all the pro Rusbots were jizzing themselves at the taught of Europiens freezing to death because of Putins epic fuel strategy..

Whatever weapons this fool is being given are not designed to win any war

Prolong it - indefinitely - yes.

That is the name of the neocon game

Biden or no Biden this will carry on for 10 years with little change at the front.
Chatter on the internet, and man down the pub says, Zelensky asked for F-35s but was told they couldn't find them.
US politicians are openly bragging that they only spend 5% of their military budget in Ukraine, and it is well worth it to damage Russia. Such reactionary cynicism while hundreds and hundreds of thousands of Ukraine troops have died on the battlefield and hundreds and hundreds of thousands maimed. All because the US Empire's attempt to damage Russia and wage trade war against Germany.

Completely legitimate referendums 👍🏼

They could’ve at least rigged the results to say 60% in favour and 40% against. Wasn’t it something daft like 95% wanted to join Russia?😂😂😂

All above board, wasn’t it Kevin.

Does it really matter who owned what in the past? Britain controlled Ireland in the past, if they decided they wanted to do so again should we just say "OK fair enough god save the king" I can assure you I'd take up arms as fruitless as it would seem.

Russia wouldn't ever do such a thing.. ther really want it to look like it's indisputable.. it's just to show their own legions of brainwashed citizens (and Kev) how great Russia is.
If Russia is so God damn awsome then why are former Soviet states flocking to join NATO.

A staged referendum... you know this.. everyone knows this.. don't pretend you believe the results.. how would it have gone if it was fair? Nobody knows.. split vote.. join Russia.. remain in Ukraine.. we'll likley never know... so an obviously staged referendum cannot be used in any way to defend Russian actions doing so makes you look desperate.

Yes, I am aware there was a Russia before the USSR.

A quick search does indeed show that Russia first invaded, claimed and annexed Crimea in 1783, taking it by force from the Ottoman empire.

So after it first became a state in its own right, it originally chose to become part of the Ottoman empire, was invaded by Russia a few hundred years later, it then became part of the Soviet Union by default and most recently - peacefully decided to become part of Ukraine.

I do notice that it has only been invaded by one country - Russia, and it has now done that twice.

Sounds to me like the Russians are a bunch of pr1cks. Twice.
