Putin already had involvement in Chechnya before his came into power. It was he who orchestrated attacks on his own people to blame on Chechnya and he had a massive role in strategy over there

Do some reading about his time as Mayor of St Petersburg. The millions of pounds he disappeared, the mysterious deaths of those calling out his corruption. This even goes back to the 80's and his time in Dresden working as with the stasi and as part of the kgb

By the time he came into power Yeltsin had already sold the country off to the oligarchs to keep power as the people were ready to revolt due to a ,massive drop in the standard of living and huge amounts of corruption. Yeltsins last election was rigged, as the oligarchs took control of all the states media and no election since has been legitimate. Putin was put into power to protect the criminals that hijacked the countries as his hands were all over the corruption

The country was hijacked by a bunch of criminals and Putin was a massive part of that. For you to say he is elected and supported by a large section of the country is laughable and completely ignores the way he manipulated his way into power.

He is a criminal tyrant. There is no doubt about that. You can criticise Ukraine and the west whilst also acknowledging the horrors of the Putin regime.

Yes. If highlighting the Ukranian frailties is done with the intent of undermining a leadership under continual attack of its people and territory then there must be an expectation that leadership would try any avenue available to strengthen its position.

If cluelessness has repelled a hugely superior force, turned them into a source of ridicule and now attacks them your assessment is inherently flawed.

@davek As I said the new scam is to hand out not billions (as that raises eyebrows amongst the people) but hundreds of millions - every few weeks - to make it look like the weapons flow is slowing down when in fact the ante is being upped.

We are here for up to a decade imo.

I don't think so.. loads of reports starting yesterday evening and continuing today suggesting that Russian lines are faultering... Any major breakthrough and Putin is completely finished..

These arent western talking points. This stuff has been investigated by plenty of people from around the globe and put on record.

You can't just dismiss every counter point as 'you're just parroting western MSM".

I ask again, just how much reading have you done on Putin, and Russia post collapse of the Soviet Union? Or the history of Russia and it's relationship with Ukraine?

You seem to know very little on the subject, yet speak with such authority on it, to the point of offense in comparing a country under unprovoked attack as the third reich.

TBF it’s impossible to compare the two - Biden’s corruption (and US political corruption generally) is that of politicians sucking up to donors so they can get the resources to succeed in politics.

Putin is an autocrat, so business and politics have to get his approval on order to succeed.

TBF it’s impossible to compare the two - Biden’s corruption (and US political corruption generally) is that of politicians sucking up to donors so they can get the resources to succeed in politics.

Putin is an autocrat, so business and politics have to get his approval on order to succeed.

It absolutely isn’t - Putin is less corrupt than Biden (or many other US political figures) if you use the US metric, as he isn’t whoring himself out for donors.

However he is more corrupt than Biden using the autocratic measure, as he has overwhelming control over the resources of the Russian state and business sphere.

It’s like comparing a bent cop and a Mafia don - both are corrupt, but in different ways.
