Poutine has succomed to his paranoia according to Le Figaro.
He considers that the break up of the USSR was the biggest geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century.
the one time KGB boss also said that Ukraine is illegitimate artificial and he denies its right to existence.

With that mindset he fears nobody in his obsession to restore the glories of the Soviet empire.
Very worrying.

The culmination of the Afghanistan invasion, Chernobyl disaster and the Armenian earthquake destroyed the infrastructure of the greedy over-stretched Soviet Empire - if he tries to rebuild - like all empires I'm sure it will fail again, but Putin will have what he wants his name ringing through history books like Stalin, Hitler, Napoleon, Ghengis Khan, Julius Caesar and all the rest.

This is the worry. Yes understandably countries dont want a full world war. But if Putin takes Ukraine with no proper response then he's not going to stop there is he?

Putin is going to be faced with a tough choice, Ukraine is sadly going to be conquered, but taking and holding a country are two different things, we've seen it time and again. Sometimes co-ordinatated underground gruella insurrection is more damaging than open warfare post invasion.

Wonder what he will do, he might establish his point and pull out, he might just take the disputed territories under Russian influence, or he might try and hold the whole country conquering and holding a country that doesn't want to be held are two very different things..

But Biden has chose to do nothing to pander domestically, much like he is terrified of rising gas prices with the Ukraine conflict. The careerists will understand making these decisions, while the humanitarians will ask him to take some hurt and help

That said, an expectation of reversal of Trump's position in Cuba (we agree it is awful) in the midst of all else going on nationally and internationally, including a pandemic that gets politicized, is a big ask for a politician.

Certainly I wish it wasn't the case.
