I wonder if the German attempt at world domination didnt collapse could it have grown to be more progressive in this day and age. Take Americas continued domination and spread. It might be evil and we dont want them putting military basis all over the world but its more progressive than when they enslaved an entire race and or committing genocide on native peoples.
Are drawing a comparison between the Hitler's Nazis and the USA?

If they’re not defended, NATO ceases to exists. That’s too big a price in itself.
It depends on America, as it always has, and Biden hasn't shown any more real interest in being the "global policeman" than Trump did. He hasn't been such an overt knobhead about it as Trump, but he hightailed it out of Afghanistan as quickly as possible, and a large chunk of his base defended him doing so, saying it wasn't their fight.

If it wasn’t so tragic you’d have to laugh.

Whilst Putins forces are rampaging thru Ukraine with certain victory not too far away, senile ‘smirking’ Joe and Blundering Boris are still talking about sanctions against Putin and his supporters… Putin is laughing in their faces.

The west have done nothing to stop Putin.

Meanwhile the Russkies are still allowed to compete in the Winter Olympics and Paralympics… cheating whilst they do so too.

Russia is the worlds super power! They do what they want, when they want.

He hightailed it out of Afghanistan because Trump cut a deal in 2020. Biden might, or might not, have left otherwise. That's unknowable.

If Trump had been re-elected he would have carried out the plan he put in place to leave Afghanistan with much the same outcome and there would have been a reversal in the defending and moaning within the political classes.

Either way, there remained very little will among the average American to stay and there is less than none to go back.

Now lets ask why (outside of the middle east) those countries invite US troops to be stationed on their territory.
The same reason the mafia tell a poor shop owner "it'll be a shame if anything happened to your establishment"

Or the same reason a lot of countries volentirley surrendered to emprires over the millenia.

Risk my life to keep the status quo, the same status quo that brought about the hypothetical invasion of the UK, too right I would turn my back!
Well, if that is how you feel it is sad to understand.

They might be a limited musically but I just cannot believe that others might think that the music is so bad that it warrants an invasion! Shocking stuff.

While I agree with the concerns and there's some important points to not be disregarded, Afghanistan and Europe / The Baltic States aren't one and the same.

The US is the biggest component of NATO in terms of troops, spending and intelligence, so their demise is not on their agenda. Russia ≠ Afghanistan too.

I know it's difficult because of what's happened now and in the past, but honestly they will be protected.

Ah, right. Not because there are two other large, bellicose powers constantly seeing what they can get away with in the world who are much less benign than the (admittedly not all that benign) US.

Why do the Baltic nations, for example, want to join NATO?

Even so, I'm not sure quite where the apparent confidence that Estonia or Latvia would automatically be defended with all Nato's might is coming from.

After all, there isn't really much evidence that Trump's comments about European defences have been improved, indeed, a report last year said that the equipment is crap, and we're not really ready to even use that crap equipment.

This conflict has shown that all too clearly. Nato without the US is practically meaningless, as this comment from last year makes clear.

“I think it’s very, very clear that we are living in a much more dynamic world,” said Retired General Philip Breedlove, NATO’s former supreme allied commander for Europe. “We still have large formations of Russian capability parked along the edges of Ukraine and Crimea, there is plenty to be concerned about in a security context. These nations know what they need to do. They know what their shortcomings are and I think we need to use every tool they have to begin to live up to Article 3 requirements.”
