Not under Gorbachev it wasn'tI said 'if we wanted a peaceful Ukraine tilting towards us we have screwed it up'. One way we can be argued to have screwed it up is by being provocative in the region. I have said nothing about Putin. He's a dangerous, authoritarian megalomaniac. However, he's also carrying out a geo-political agenda that has been Russian policy for centuries. What he has done should be a surprise to no-one. It's something most Western foreign policy eggheads should have predicted. At least it's not totally out of character that Russia feels threatened by a Western backed Ukraine. If I know this some foreign policy graduate from Harvard should also have known it.
You do know that Russia invaded and annexed parts of Ukraine 10 years ago?!?!
We were also at fault for Chechnya (twice)? Georgia? Syria? Transistra? Were they western backed?
