There's no 'thirst for revenge.' The thirst is for Russia to respect the borders of a neighbour and return home. (I'm including Crimea and areas of the Donbas they claim as theirs, they're not)

Don't know, but reckon there's a good chance the war would be over or both sides would be talking about some kind of settlement. Clearly some people don't want that and many thousands more have died because of it.

The effect of the US elections will be the formal withdrawal of support for Ukraine restoring its full 1991 borders as the goal of the war. This is already the Biden admin's de-facto policy, but they don't say it aloud yet.

I guess in autumn we will start to hear it explicitly... it's far from certain that Biden will run for re-election, and I very much doubt that another Dem candidate would replace him who would be more pro-war. And DeSantis position, for example, also wouldn't be all that different.

Of course, the end of the war doesn't depend only on Zelensky, It depends on Putin as well... if Russia keeps trying to take more Ukrainian territory, the West will need to maintain the defense assistance flowing indefinitely. I think the West is now preparing for a long war.

Ukraine should just surrender and hand over their country, their economy, their culture, their government, in fact everything, to a steroid bloated madman, just so he can then set his sights on the next nearby country to invade.
