I'm uncertain of the validity of these reports (in fact, I'm quite sceptical), but the delivery of F-16s would be a powerful tool in the Ukrainian arsenal.

Germany will not keep Poland from sending tanks to Ukraine

Anyway, i think Germany gonna stop with their tanks veto soon, pressure is quite big (though i think America is only relevant country in their eyes that they gonna listen). As comment above says, they really, really don't want to alienate Russia too much, so playing as reluctant and being "pressured" into it, is all part of that.

German economy is central to EU, there is no EU without them, it would collapse immediately, that fact alone would always make them "unofficial leader".

Whenever something go bad everyone blames Germany (like Greece during their bankruptcy), whenever someone wants something in EU, they look at them, when someone wants/planning to go work abroad (here in Eastern Europe) they go to Germany.

Us here from ex-Yugoslavia and Poles (and Turks) are most numerous in Germany and Austria. Why, cause our populist governments are only good at talking big, and never actually do something.

They repeating that for weeks, but from what i read today, they still didn't even sent official request to Germany about it.

Hard to know from Polish government (PIS) what is truth and what is used for cheap PR for their election campaign, like that recent request for German reparations.

This crisis shows you why EU will never rival USA or China as potential superpower. To much internal squabbling, past historical rivalry and old hate and disunity. Europe will never be united cause secretly everyone hate everyone despite smiles in public.

I read the article that compares EU to old Hapsburg Empire of Austria-Hungary on the eve of WW1. Pretending to be fancy and "Great Power" but in reality internally weak and plagued by nationalism, petty squabbles and million different problems. When real crisis and war came they were constantly needed to be bailed by Germans same as EU now is bailed by Americans.
