I'm pretty sure I've posted this before, but not in this forum (or maybe I saw it here on GOT...??? can't remember). It is a VERY long read, but quite simply, it is excellent! Well worth the effort. I assign it to my students in one of my classes. It is about the conversion of a racist hate-monger to a normal functioning member of society. It focuses on Derek Black, son of KKK member Don Black who founded stormfront.org, and god-son of David Duke. Really moving!

Their beady eyes bulged, and the veins in their tiny narrow foreheads beat in rage. One last time they screamed “White Power!”
The clown women thought they finally understood what the Klan was trying to say. “Ohhhhh…” the women clowns said. “Now we understand…”, “WIFE POWER!” they lifted the letters up in the air, grabbed the nearest male clowns and lifted them in their arms and ran about merrily chanting “WIFE POWER! WIFE POWER! WIFE POWER!”

Not sure if this is a canary, since these moments seem to pass quickly, but this may be more indicative of unrest among GOP supporters than Fox taking a stance. Like most, Fox panders Ron their audience. I doubt Fox would report it if they thought their audience would not agree with the view.
Also Drudge is carrying far more critical headlines than used to - as you say both presumably have quite good metrics on what message "sells" with their audience...

A HuffPost/YouGov poll conducted after the Charlottesville unrest (but before Mr Trump's Tuesday press conference) could also give clues as to why conservatives are taking pause.
Fully 77% of Trump voters think the president "did enough" to condemn white nationalist violence in Charlottesville. Two-thirds of them had no problem with the president's delay in mentioning neo-Nazis and white supremacists by name.
Perhaps most remarkably, 48% of Trump voters think the Charlottesville white nationalists either "have a point" (37%) or were "mostly right" (11%). And 68% of Trump voters see "a lot of discrimination" against white people in the US.
That last paragraph is sad to read. And that lizard Scalia said racism was dead.
