Succession Planning - Managerial Wishlist

I'll get laughed out of it for this but I think with the right coaching, Myko could be ok at wing back.

Sure.
I think Iraola uses fast technical players.
None or our players seem that fast (maybe Rohl)
I think our players are better suited to a more physical game and that might suit Glasner better
I also would like to see someone try a back 3 of O'brien, Tark(or stones), branthwaite. And Glasner plays a back 3 as opposed to Iraolas back 4.
As for wing backs, who knows, We need new full backs anyway, maybe we should go 3 at the back and pick up wing backs.

Rohl could do a job as right wing back and he wanted McNeill.
If we played 3 at the back I could see Mykolenko as a stand in LCB but definitely not as wing back.

In recent times all the best managers and coaches in the league have generally come from abroad. If we do decide to twist we should be doing similar imo. British managers all have the same limitations for me.

Well, the Spanish school and the German school have been the dominant coaching "schools" as Jonathan Wilson would have it. Modern football has basically been defined by Guardiola and Klopp and their acolytes. It's why Ancelotti has been such an outlier. He's been the most successful of them all simply by being pragmatic and a brilliant man manager.

Trophies won is a
I’m not dissing Iraola mate, I would certainly be pleased if we got him. But I tend to measure success in terms of trophies won. If we measure it solely on doing well in the league despite not having anything like the players of those around you, then Derek Mcinnes of Hearts should be in the conversation. As Scottish league or not, the job he has done up there is nothing short of miraculous. i am not arguing that I am right and you are wrong, but we measure success differently. A trophy, no matter how poor the competition, is nothing to be dismissed. On that basis I think Moyes can be deemed more of a success that Iraola, but as I said earlier, with regards to playing style, Moyes loses out to him all day long.
'Trophies won' is a completely unrealistic metric for who should be Everton manager. If they've won a major trophy (top 5 league of Champions League) they ain't coming here. If they've won Europa, it's unlikely they're coming here. If they've won the Scottish Premiership, that's a good sign but doesn't necessarily mean they'll be good here.
The only metric worth looking at is do they overachieve with the squad they have, ideally over more than one season or with more than one club? Over the last few years in the Prem, this has been people like Emery, Iraola, Glasner, Silva. You would have said Eddie Howe but Iraola has taken Bournemouth to next level since he took over while Newcastle have mostly underachieved. Iraola has done it while having all his best players sold every season: the guy is top class. Emery is also top class, but we have no chance of him coming - his next step is a team top 5-6 in Europe.

We should be looking for someone who has taken a mediocre club and got them into a position where they're challenging for trophies. People who have walked into clubs and made them competitive at the top of a league they previously struggled in - it's rare to find managers like this and hard too attract them. I always liked Silva, Gasperini, Lucien Favre, all of whom did this at several clubs. Favre is probably too old now, Gasperini is at Roma and not moving, if like to see Silva come here again, but it's not happening. If we couldn't get Iraola, someone like Christophe Galtier would be my shout.

Ancelotti’s best skill is keeping the most talented teams from quite literally punching each other. Same as Zidane’s was. Honestly that’s not a million miles from Mourinho either.

The vast majority of clubs (including Everton, which we saw with Carlo) don’t really benefit from this skillset.

Even after his work at Spurs and Forest?
I felt he was unlucky at Spurs with injuries but did win the Europa League. Clear that that club has problems, by his own admission he shouldn't have taken on the Forest job, but I think with a blank slate a full pre season and good recruitment he'd be good for us. All irrelevant anyway lad Moyes isn't going anywhere soon.

Fair play to you for sticking to your guns but nothing on Postecoglou's CV convinces me. Injuries are unlucky if they happen to key players and are few in nature but when you have the amount he had at Spurs then the training methods must be questioned (and they were I seem to remember) Winning a cup is all well and good but you judge a managers body of work on his league record as that shows their level of consistency with how their methods are working from a day to day perspective. Maybe he shouldn't of taken the Forest job but there's no disguising he did a pigs ear of it. If we did appoint him it would end in tears pretty soon as when it implodes with him it implodes disastrously. But yes i agree its irrelevant as I'd be amazed if Moyes doesn't see out his contract.

We could get Iraola in but unless we sort out the recruitment and scouting then it's all irrelevant. The likes of Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth seem to find gems from every corner of the world whilst we end up paying huge amounts for Barry and Dibling both really unproven.
As I've outlined before we have underused players in the squad Iraola could use. We'd need to buy him 2 full backs, 1 winger and a striker, which isn't unachievable.
