Succession Planning - Managerial Wishlist

Dave is entitled to his opinion and tbh he is no worse than others at the other end of the spectrum who bang on about how we are no better than Moyes and give it all the 'be careful what you wish for bollox', also its up to the moderators to decide (and they do tell him) when enough is enough. Put him on ignore if you don't want to read it, I have a few posters on ignore as they bore the hell out of me tbh.
I don't think he's losing any sleep because of what I've said. I'm also allowed my own opinion.
I also wouldn't put him on ignore as he is an interesting guy and I do enjoy some of his posts. I've been known to agree with him at times.

It's a forum and if everyone had the same opinion it would be a very boring one.

Get Carsley in. I think he's done enough to warrant a punt with a top flight club...and he knows what we are all about and what the fans expect. Don't agree with bringing in continental managers - the likes of Carlo being the exception - just because they're burning it up in two horse leagues abroad. The PL is a wholly different ball game and requires a total change in mindset to what many foreign managers are used, Amorim at Utd being just the latest example and Slot quickly going the same way despite his inaugural season success albeit with Klopp's legacy squad.

Incredible logic to decry foreign managers because it's a 'different ball game' compared to the prem while pushing for a manager whose entire employed experience as a club manager of ANY sort is two months in the championship 11 years ago

The forrins just don't get proper English footie doe

Yeah, but do you not think he's learned a lot in those last eleven years?

Iraola is dream appointment for me.

Aggressive football
Generally knowledgeable and likeable
Track record of getting a prem club to perform to the next level
Track record of developing young talent fantastically
Track record of getting the absolute most out of his players

Start of the season I thought it was totally out of the question. But it seems he wants to stay in the prem. My hunch is Utd will want someone who's more proven at the top level...Spurs will appoint someone before he becomes available...Palace and Forest sideways or backwards moves...my real concern is if Newcastle get rid of Howe, I can see them going for him.

Someone needs to Inception-style start planting the seed in his mind that scousers are the basques of the UK

Basically word is he doesn't just want the 'biggest' job available but somewhere he'll be happy and stable working at a level above Bournemouth. I could see us convincing him that that's here
I couldn't agree more mate he'd be brilliant here with his style of football. The basque point is spot on too. He could be someone that grows with us like Pochettino did at Spurs when they had the nucleus of a young side. Let's see if the Friedkins think alike

Small side note, Iraola was Kinnear's first choice at Leeds to replace Marsch back in 2023, before he went to Bournemouth at the end of that season.

TFG have also just had good success at Roma poaching a manager (Gasperini) from within the same league who was at a historically smaller club (Atalanta) that was overperforming to be at a similar level to Roma

Edit: I ALSO think we have a bunch of players that would suit Iraola a lot.

Ndiaye
Branthwaite
O'Brien
KDH
Garner

Even players like Rohl, Barry, Aznou, Alcaraz, George, Iroegbunam, Dibling are all the sorts of player he manages to get an excellent tune out of. Either great physical profiles or extremely hard to handle in transition (or both)

Didn't know about Kinnear trying to appoint him at Leeds so that's promising to know that he rates him too. I see Moyes role like Ranieri's role was at Roma, an experienced interim who knows the club and who will get it organised and back on an even keel. Like Ranieri though I suspect the Friedkins know for the next phase of the rebuild a different dynamic of manager is required so the question is are the Friedkins satisfied enough with the clubs stability to move on to the next phase of the rebuild or will they play it safe and keep Moyes for another season?

Decision time as Iraola will be out of contract.

He's done it plenty of times, sure he uses him more now as an impact sub.

If we rested our best on merit players we would have a new thread.
Well hes started half the matches looking at the stats, Bournemouth have options upfront so as a 19 year old new to the league I'd say that's about what you'd expect. He's scored goals but I'd imagine his performances have been inconsistent too being 19 and new to the league so unless you're a Bournemouth fan and know more about his level of performance you can't say he's been their best player on merit and harshly taken out of the team at times

But we curse our club for doing it.

I dont look at stats, so I cant answer that, maybe look at their other forwards goal counts..

If he's higher, thats surely merit.
