Snow, how bad is it where you are?

Here in Banbury, we've got about a foot or more and it's been falling on and off all day. No clouds tonight so it'll freeze solid. Can't get out of our village without a Chelsea tractor - lots of those round here but we're stuck and have run out of milk. Children not at school so I'll be walking the two miles tomorrow to the next village which has a shop...ciome and live in the country they said...

Children have had a great time tobogganing today though - fantastic.

It's hard not to love the blanket of silence that falls with snow this deep - it's as if somebody has thrown a gigantic duvet over the world. And you can hear a dog bark from a mile away - love it.

LCAB, love the tower picture - got me all sentimental for home....[/QUOTE]

We are here to serve , Treb' .
All the best , cock' .

It was -20 in Edmonton last night and yet they don't flinch, they just get on with it.

yeah they have something 30 degree shifts some days.

In this country though we all dream of white christmas's etc, but then when it happens everyone cries like a bitch.

Although friend of mine took 7 hours to get from Liverpool to Rock Ferry last night. Tunnel closed for some bizarre reason.

I'm blaming the weather for ******* up me cars alternator. £200 to get it fixed.... Depressed

Should have got a reconditioned one, half the price and put it in yourself, unless you've got one of these 'need a computer programme' before anything goes near it KB...a lot of dosh just after Christmas mate(n)

Prodrive country?

And seriously snow. Your country has no idea what real snow is like. As said before, 'we' just get on with it.

You're so right, Dylan - we have no idea. I think it's that we're a crowded island with mostly temperate weather. When it snows like this - everything just grinds to a halt. Roads, rail, buses, the lot.

But what strikes me is the silence. We're also a noisy country - traffic, chatter, radios, TVs, etc etc. A blanket of snow transforms the place completely. Love it.

Yeah - Prodrive are just up the road. Mate of mine is a manager there...

It's the most snow for 50 years or something.

We can't be expected to horde 10000 tonnes of grit 'just in case'; or drive around with tyre chains in the boot because it snowed quite badly once in 1972.

It hardly ever snows here, so when it does we get to stay off work. Nobody is complaining (except old people with smashed up hips).

It's screwing with my plans to go back to uni now. Not happy.

Mum doesn't fancy driving back on her own, so may have to take the train with minimal stuff and wait til the roads are better to get the rest down. (n)

I hate driving to Norwich more than I hate kissing really old women.

That straight road through Lincolnshire that goes on forever is a nightmare, especially when stuck behind a fat old farmer in his 1940's tractor (which happens to me EVERY time).

Depends which way you come from I guess.
