Shareholders don't like uncertainty.

If it is true that he is going to Utd then good luck to him. We are in a much better position now, compared to when he took over. Yes, we haven't won any trophies but we are a much better team and we have Moyes to thank for that. He deserves a good send off and who can blame him for moving to the biggest team in the world? He has given 11 years to the cause, yes he has been paid well, but worth it IMO. When i think of how we were under the likes of Mike Walker and Walter Smith, it sends shivers down my spine. I do worry about who we will get in, Martinez, ok, but who else???? I say let him see out the last 2 games of the season, he deserves it, I think it will be more negative to replace him with 2 games to go. I have some really good memories of the last 10 years and have heard Goodison rocking at its best - i for one thank him and wish him all the best

I thought even with Bosman the person in question had to be out of contract before agreeing terms. Moyes is still under contract

I believe they can discuss terms and agree a 'pre contract' prior to actually signing a contract. I know a few players around Europe have gone back on their word after agreeing to move to club X in January and then signed for club Y in July.

The only change in England is that domestic clubs can't approach each others players to discuss a move (staff?) before May or something similar.

Just curious, what are the rules for approaching a manager?

I assume United are required to go through the club before discussing terms with David Moyes as he's still under contract. Wouldn't it make more sense for them to just wait until the end of the season to sign him and avoid dealing with our board altogether?

Can't see any advantage to United naming him before the end of the season

Do you really think this hasn't been done and dusted for months? Moyes has been putting a smokescreen up about his contract nearly all season...kinda suspicious that imo
As much as I like Moyes and want(ed) him to stay, this whole business stinks to high heaven from the Everton perspective. And I'm ****in sure Bill has just sat back and allowed it to happen.
Leaving reception? Then watch him take his pick of our best players?
I care about one thing in this...Everton. If Moyes is gone...thanks and goodbye...and when you return you'll be the hated boss of them manc ****s

Yes he should be in charge. He's done a remarkable job with us and deserves his last 2 games. I don't think the players head's are going to drop while we still have a chance of Europe.

If anything, the blame is firmly with Utd. They didnt have to announce Ferguson leaving until the end of the season. Once they did that and then in the same breath said they want a new manager named by the end of the week, then the writing was on the wall

I'd laugh my tits off if it was mourinho!

He needs to be given a proper send off on Sunday, the man has been brilliant for the club and I hope we as fans get the chance to show our appreciation for the job he's done.

He wouldn't be going anywhere if we were able to compete at the top, sadly those days are gone.

I agree with those sentiments entirely. While he never won a trophy and his record against the RS wasn't that great David Moyes did a brilliant job for this club.He turned us around from being a bunch of relegation strugglers to being regular inhabitants of the top half of the premiership. However he can take us no further thank's to the gimps in the boardroom. If this news is confirmed then im not sure that he should manage us for the next two games but he deserves our thanks for his efforts and a big send off at the West Ham game.

I don't to be honest, can't see the good it would serve, having someone else's incoming manager managing us, especially if he chose to leave - we're Everton ffs.

Don't see why he shouldn't be. Fergie's seeing out the last 2 games. And after 10 years in charge you think he'd pay his respects to the crowd and vice versa for the West Ham game.

Looks like the decisions been made. He's out the door, no emotional farewell game on Sunday.

As it should be. We're Everton Football Club - no one man is bigger than the club.

Life goes on. It might be a bit crapper, and a bit more difficult and hard to swallow, but goes on all the same.

Is there some news, BIB?

I don't think there would have been an "emotional" farewell anyway.

Whilst Moyes is well regarded at EFC, he has never been "loved" in the way they loved Kenny or United love Fergie or even we loved Howard.

He probably won't be in charge if he gets the job at United!! My only beef is that he has let his contract run down. We get no compo, and we'll probably have to pay compo for our next manager. Not good business for a club short on spare cash!

the difference being fergie is retiring. if he was leaving to manage chelsea , would they want him for the last 2 games ? i think not.
if his heart is elsewhere , and by agreeing to join them means it is , then moyes should not take charge in the last 2 games imo.

No, we haven't.

Don't believe the revisionists.

We came close to relegation twice.....in '94 and '98.

Maybe flirted with the lower regions another couple times but were well safe with a half dozen games to go.

And in Moyes's first full season in charge we finished one place above the relegation zone....on thirty nine points.

A total which would get a club relegated most years.

So let's not go over the top here, potato.

Everton under Moyes were no better than they ought to be.

You're a young lad....embrace the future and view the impending arrival of a new manager with optimism and excitement.

Because we are in danger of seeing the legacy of the Moyes era being one of down in the mouth negativity and defeatism.

Moyes has never built up expectation....never engendered great hope.....never talked up our great and proud club and its magnificane fans.

This man sent his team out at Man. City last season with a statement to the press that he was "bringing a knife to a gunfight".

He should have been sacked that night, IMO.

We finished 7th in Moyes first full season in charge and we had relegation worries in the 93/94, 94/95, 96/97, 97/98, 98/99, 00/01 and 01/02 seasons. Those are the facts and we would have been relegated in the 98/99 season if it wasn't for Kevin Campbell being bought in on loan.

Jesus wept. Fergie is retiring a Utd hero. Of course he'll get a farewell. By comparison Moyes is jibbing us for a rival. Yes I know they are a huge club but we beat them this season and will lock horns next season as well. There's no need to rub our noses in it with a collective outpuring of "he's off to better". [Poor language removed] that.
