Should Moyes be in charge for the last two games?

Believe it or not, we are right in the middle of one of the biggest sport stories in the world for few days now, everybody in the football world right from England all the way to Canada, Brazil, Australia, China, Nigeria, Armenia and the rest of the world are talking about SAF retirement and Moyes replacing him, all eyes will be on Goodison on Sunday and what will happen on Sunday will be reported all over the world.

Again believe it or not, apart from those who are managing Europe’s elite, the rest of football managers and coaches around the world will snatch your hands off if you offer them the chance to replace Moyes.

Kenwright could have easily told Moyes to take a break and handle the team to one of our coaches, but by keeping him and letting him take charge of the last 2 games with all the media circus those 2 games will get (especially against West Ham) it’s very important we send out a nice message to the world about how classy we are, to show potential managers how we treat our managers, to show players around the world the same thing.

I am not from the city, never been in England in my life and I hate LFC, but the tribute to the 96 before the Newcastle game brought tears to my eyes and made me feel so proud to be Evertonian.

I urge everyone who will be in Goodison Park on Sunday to show their class, Moyes will be gone in 2 weeks time, he is already gone and our season is well and truly over (it was over even if he stayed), but we are in a very important period right now, who will replace Moyes? What will happen to the stability we have (coaching staff, players) lets show managers and players around the world how we treat our own, how special this football club is.

I can see this issue is dividing the fans, just like the perception of Kenwright. His most magnificant achievement is making us argue amongst ourselves over what we believe.
The only truth I see is that we have owners who put no money into the club.
The lad I am going the game with on Sunday intends on cheering Moyes and saluting bill. I intend on doing the opposite. We have already argued about this and yet we both ultimately want a successful Everton.

Imagine if we get turned over -- say Carroll grabs a brace. What kind of atmosphere will there be?
Moyes is Man United manager. He is the past. I just want this season over with so we can see what the future holds.
Having started so well I don't think I could have envisaged such a dreadful way for it to end.

With all respect mate so is questioning a persons integrity and loyalty to the cause ( in this instance Everton ) without even knowing the lads story...where's he from ?? how did he get there ??..... like I say not a dig but think before you accuse mate.

Maybe you should direct your comments to him. It's he that's doing the accusing.

Nowhere will you find me accusing a fellow Blue of having 'no idea'.

Hey mate... you both have differing opinions ...that's cool ....but the lid is as staunch an Evertonian as you are I would guess....it's just Geography lid...... where you are or where you are from is irrelevant.

I don't want to fight with fellow Blues, but this is, once again, not how it should have been handled.

And that comment illustrates why this is such a bad idea.

It has split the Everton family just at the very time we need to be closing ranks.

Our manager has gone up the road but we are engaged in a virtual civil war.

It stands to sense Moyes should been put on "gardening leave".

There is no counter argument to that.

It stands to sense Moyes should have been at the game on Sunday and received the appreciative applause his time with us merited.

He could have even came on the pitch for the traditional last game lap.

These two things are not mutually exclusive.

Both could and should have happened.

Then we'd all be moving on together.

That's the way any other self resepcting major football club would have dealt with it.

One man is responsible for this division among us.

Mr. William Kenwright.

I have now come to the conclusion that this gentleman's continued stewardship of EFC has reached toxic levels.

Why do we, as a fanbase accept his nonsense though? He has been on the board since 1989, around the time this clubs fall from the elite began.

As much as I do not want to give them any credit, liverpool fans got rid of the charlatans running that club into the ground. Why have we never done the same. Clapping Man united's manager who is sat in the Everton dug out. I have never known anything like it.

A well reasoned post, thank you.
For me honoring a contract is more important than what others have done or not done in the past, and if he's still committed, and still contracted, and he's still our manager, I don't see the issue.
For me our manager should manage our team and that is not only not unprecedented.. that's the norm.
He's not a United manager till next season, at which point he won't be managing us, he'll be managing United.
I can see why some wouldn't want it, but to me it makes sense.

Cheers mate, glad we can disagree and still be civil about this.

I understand what you mean about seeing out his contract, but to me it seems like he's trying to have it both ways.

Think of it this way, if he had a year left on his contract, he would never have even been allowed to speak to Manchester United, and we would all be saying he disgraced himself hugely by even mentioning it. In this regard, he gets the benefit of only having 6 weeks left on his contract, in that we understand his time is winding down, which is why it's not horrific that he even dreamed of mentioning coaching a rival.

The only reason he's been allowed to agree terms without the club receiving compensation is because it's only 6 weeks. At the same time he wants to get the benefit of those 6 weeks by staying on as manager. I don't believe he should be able to have it both ways. Either he's still with the club, in which case he should have told United "I am not going to consider offers from other clubs until the season is over", or he's done with the club, in which case he shouldn't manage us.

It's this middle ground that I think is untenable. Though in fairness, Kenwright only said he will be manager on sunday in the wee hours of the night after sitting in a room with moyes for 2 and a half hours, so he may have just reacted sharply and is now forced to stick by it.

At the end of the day, whether he manages us for 2 meaningless games is of little consequence. I am just disappointed that these muddled circumstances are going to tarnish the name and legacy of someone who has been a very effective servant of the club for quite some time.

Behave. The problems with the board on the other side of the park were some of the most entertainment i've gotten out of off-the-pitch football antics in a very long time. Kenwright is far from perfect, but I would not want to trade places with them and become redsox fc

I wonder if this Ihaters bloke has called the Samaritans Helpline?

He is in deep denial and seems totally incapable of coping with life without Moyes.

Most odd.

Not really. He has his ideas about how we should deal with this, you have yours and I have mine.

Mine is closer to his, but I'm far from being in denial. In fact, I'm looking forward with hope that Everton may find someone who can take the club forward and build on what Moyes has left.

AVB is already talking about Moyes not being able to afford Bale...tell me this isn't a f'in distraction already. He's already being talked about like he's there. This is the kinda' stuff that those of us that aren't keen on this are talking about...it's nonsense.

What I wrote was very true. EFC are desperate and they may end up looking over their shoulders at relegation again and maybe drop out. I remember the days well. Awful. They need someone who keeps them in the top half. Benitez can do that. I have reservations over the others.

Not the worst idea I've heard. My problem with Benitez' management was that he over-rotated. Moyes didn't rotate enough, imo

It won't happen, of course, but wouldn't it be great going over to rawk for a read?

Why do we look like a joke? Seriously?

Some one who has won ZERO titles happens to get one of the biggest jobs in world football. And don't start with the" he already got the biggest job when he signed for us" as it just sounds like Kopites saying they compete with Barcelona etc - fact is, we and they don't.

Small time would be him going to Sunderland or QPR because they got money to spend making us look like the cheap bin raiders we are in the modern game fuelled by finance.

Moyes goes to United. Who's Moyes? They Google him, the Google us, they see our history. Any manager who wants a job goes "wow, if I do really well there, I will get noticed. It's a tough job, but I'm good enough to do it"

Instead of us being a plucky team without a pot to piss in against the money rich sides - which is what the world thinks of us if any of was interested in football - they'll now see us as a club with merit, with history, with a good team that has to have done something right for its long term manager to go to the global brand that is United.

Fact is, if you thought Everton was on the tips of people's tongues before this. It wasn't. And sadly, him going to United has.

Hard to deal with but that's the truth.

Some of that's going a bit far, wack. Anyone who's taking any interest in this knows who Everton are, and our place in the
football world.

I might talk about that in another thread, one day.
