Sell to buy

I imagine he's trying to have some decorum as well, Dave lol
...but instead of just remaining schtum on Koeman he has praised him as a top manager that he's worked with...a manager who nearly killed us.

I think Mr Brands needs to start calling a spade a spade on that one. That is the last time I want to hear out of him anything about Koeman that isn't true.

Announce we have £1100000000m to spend, get slaughtered that the war chest wasn't spent.

Announce we have to cull players from the squad because its too, get slaughtered for selling to buy.

The squad is too big filled with average players on large contracts. That seemingly a few managers didnt want to work with a few of them

Move them on, get in a few additions to the squad and it'll look much rosier.

We can lose the following with little or no negative impact on the squad:

Schniederlin, Klaassen, Williams, Bolassie, Besic, Garbutt, Mirallas, Galloway, Browning, Pennington.

Rooney and Robles are all but gone already.

Funes Mori and Martina could leave but we'd need replacements just as cover.

And even after all that we'll still end up with Baines and Jagielka as starters.

Stekelenburg
Robles
Garbutt
Cuco
Williams****
Browning
Galloway
Mori
Pennington
Connolly
Feeney
McCarthy
Besic
Tarashaj
Williams (joe)
Grant
Klaassen
Schneiderlin****
Mirallas
Bolasie****
Rooney****
Sandro
Niasse****

Just shows what mess we got ourselves into. Of the 23 players above, only 5 were regular 1st team squad players.

Sounds ridiculous, but we could sell 12-15 of those with zero negative impact on the 1st team squad.

BTW, of the above I can only think of Galloway & Sandro who I think could come good.
Niasse I would definitely keep, at least until we sign 2 better strikers.

Potentially, to start the season.

Make no mistake though, Brands will be looking at the succession plan for both of them - he has his head screwed on unlike the previous DOF incumbent.

Jags will be retiring at the end of this season, he will have to be phased out regardless.

Sandro will leave 100%, he wants to leave the club and go back to Spain, was reported a while back. The question is how much damage his loan spell done to his reputation over there, If we can make a profit on him, and have to put up a small potion of his wages for a year then it will be worth doing.

But I agree with you, the majority of that list above could be moved on without any major impact.

I think Galloways ship has sailed now, he had his chance to break through, his last few loans have been utter train wrecks.

Not quick enough. They should be first out the door.

I don't disagree with your analysis , strategy or the list of players to "offload".

However your assesment that it will be "easy" to move on 14 players is ludicrous given the age , ( reduced ) valuations and most importantly the wages that most on your list command.

It is very difficult to see who , for instance , will take on A. Williams ( especially with his injury ) , Schneiderlin or Mirallas given their wage demands and level of performance at this stage in their careers.

Pennington has just signed a new contract , do you think we did that just to get a fee of £1 million ?

Galloway hasn't kicked a ball for anyone in over 12 months - whose going to pay good money for him?

McCarthy still out with a broken leg but hey no problem someone will pay us £5 million.

Who in their right mind would have Cuco ? Koeman certainly wasn't.

Saying move them on is simple , the reality is far more difficult.

Take a step back and think what fools bought them in the 1st place and their pedigree...

There should be takers for all of them...theres always someone more stupid in the room.

40 dishes in 2 days?

I thought Allardyce had left...

He wants 38 players + more added.

I think its quite an apt comparison.

Perhaps he is Allardyce :o

Theyre the only 4 who are likely to be kept on and loaned out i think.

Sandro may be different under Silva or we could loan him out to a side in Espana who would start him every week.
