Joy Deprived

I truly believe we are the most joy deprived fanbase in the entire country.

We don’t win silverware.

We hardly ever win a derby.

We just exist in the league we play in.

We regularly go out of the cups in embarrassing fashion.

The majority of football we’ve had to put up with has been terrible on the eye.

We have to sell our best young players because we can’t match their ambition.

Is there anyone more joy deprived than us? I always thought Ipswich were up there but they have had plenty of recent enjoyment.

Anyone else?

Yes I agree in a way however we have beaten them at Goodison not long ago. We got an injury time equaliser against them last year when the ref prob played a bit more time etc so the derbies are what they are.

The silverware aspect will only change once we get a bigger squad with better players. My only let down is we always seem to let it goto pens and then get knocked out on them. Southampton, Fulham, Sunderland. But that’s where the quality comes in. You get better players and you can score more goals.

We have to hope we can spend and spend big in the summer but also getting it right is so important. For every Thiago there are 3 Barry’s. For every David Silva there are 3 Davy Klassens. We have to get it right.

I read a stat. We are the only english club this century to not experience a cup win or promotion or any form of success. Thats depressing

It’s not altogether depressing.

Because to win a promotion we would first need to experience a relegation.

And if relegation today is the price of joy tomorrow then it is a price I for one ain’t prepared to pay 😊

There's no fun being a Blue, that's for sure. Our only 'victories', ie. moments of genuine happiness and feeling of being proud to support the club, come when we unexpectedly beat a bigger team. But even that ultimately counts for nowt. Manager throws cup competitions as if we're a European giant, and takes away all hopes of being our local rivals by going for a 0-0 and ending up losing.

Had some rotten years over the past 30 years, as many relegation scraps as European Qualifications.

But when youve got Wycombe Wanderers fans trying to troll on social media, id take our status of no relegation over a gamble of trying to come straight back up...

See Coventry, Sheffield Wednesday, Bradford, Portsmouth, Charlton, Leeds, Wigan who all suffered relegations on multiple occasions and spent (at least) 15 years outside the top flight..

Is it depressing? It's not great, but look at the spread of trophies, and the barren run various teams are on.

Do you reckon an Ipswich fan would swap 4 years in League One - where they fumed on their ownership and a solitary season in the top tier for our "plight"? Of course they would and thats why I found the stat to be amusing to be honest.
