If he genuinely got an amazing reception at goodison what do you think he would do?

In relation to him even thinking about coming back ? Nothing. He isn't coming back. Wayne Rooney will either sign a new improved contract at United or he will move to a blue chip English/European club capable of paying him and his team what they want. I shudder to imagine what he or his "agent" would think if they ever clapped eyes on this thread

This is the only chance he got now if he wants to come home. But players get greedy when it the last payday contract. Man u will be desperate to keep him and pay silly money. Moyes won't want to lose him twice . The dream could happen until he signed a new contract. So let's hope cos the club need him.

Rooney and Barkley in the same Everton team is something dreams are made of!

I've always been a believer he'll be back at some point. This summer seems a little unrealistic but you never know. Don't forget he'll still have all his sponsorship deals. We could bulk his earnings up with other things like shirt sale money etc and most importantly money asside why would he not want to play for us? Boy hood club who lets not forget are pretty ****ing boss these days! A new young manager who a lot of players are going to want to play for.

He's won everything he can (bar fa cup) with utd. And call me niave to believe he cares but a certain Ross Barkley is looking like he will be the hero at Everton that as a kid Rooney wanted to be! I'm not so sure he's prepared to let someone else have that tag!

Been on such good form for utd this year, yet still looks Un-happy, rarely celebrates his goals with any aplomb, looks to want to be somewhere else yet I don't believe he's longing for the bright sunshine in Spain or Jose's boring football in London.

It's soooo on....not sure when but it is on!!

If he genuinely got an amazing reception at goodison what do you think he would do?

He will never get a good reception at Goodison off me, the way he treated the fans because people were upset that he left was a disgrace. Don't forget he kissed utd's badge at Goodison on more then one occasion. I hope to god that a Everton don't prostitute themselves to bring this Lad back. If he returns i want it to be on Everton's terms.

I think a lot of the hatred for Rooney is manufactured because he left and personally i have no grudges against him. It is a shame because if there was any chance of him returning then it is surely gone with any reception we have given him since. But to exlain my viewpoint;

1. He was always getting sold that summer whether we liked it or not. Apart from the board starting down a slippery slope of selling our best talents, we finished 17th that season when he left. For all those with rose tinted glasses, he swapped 17th for titles and trophies, what is wrong with that?

2. The comments mainly made by Rooney was spoon fed by his agent. We all knew he was a scum bag but i don't think Rooney would have said anything like that unless he was told to. He had to upsell moving to OT so therefore the P.R team had to put us down as a club.

3. Turn the perspective around. We don't treat any of our young players we have bought in with discontent yet do so when we sell our own? Perhaps it is because it was a sore subject at the time but surely the hatred in the matter should be directed at the board for selling him to begin with rather than Rooney wanting more money and success. Selling Wayne led to Arteta, Lescott, Fellaini, Baines?, Rodwell etc The board done it once and got away with it so after that it was acceptable.

Personally if Rooney would play for vastly reduced wages again then i would have him back in a heartbeat. For all the trophies in the world, nothing will compare to winning them with your boyhood club and being the reason why you are winning them. He is a class act and i think we would be top with him up front now, but then gain that is a what if.

As much as I'd like to think about this happening it never will, like someone said further up the thread, his agents would never allow it to happen, they have a vested interest in him and unfortunately its more likely to be what's good for them rather than what's good for Wayne

We could probably get away with paying Rooney 100-120K/week on a free. However that's not happening when clubs like PSG and Chelsea could pay him almost twice than that. He also has plenty of sponsors to make happy and I'm guessing they'd rather see him on a "big club".
