Rooney (18 months left on a contract)

Take a dip into his images rights? What agent would let a club do that? The ronaldo and Bale deals are very astute because Real don't take their personal image rights, they profit from just having them at the club. The players themselves retian thier image rights and profit from that themselves, Win win it seems.

Plus you factor in We are Everton and in the past 10 years since Rooney left, have signed every bad business deal and sold every asset away without a seconds thought. We are sponsored by an east aisian brand, Have americas number 1 plus best player singing our praises, we have had Austrailias most famous player nd we have done nothing about any of it. Rooney's image rights will take a hit by coming here, as we are not globally interesting compared to united/real and the like. Why would Nike or whoever pay Rooney a fortune to play for everton when PSG/ Chelsea and others can market the player on a global scale?

Money rules the beautiful game now, the only sentiments you get are for the poor man.

What a utter crock of...

A couple of things: I can't see ANY English club offering Rooney a 250kp/w contract until he's 34. If Utd offer him a new contract, I can see it being a two year extension similar to his current deal. So, in that respect, would a 5 year 100kp/w contract be that bad a deal for Rooney to accept?

In terms of wealth: Well, yeah Rooney is gonna be uber rich for the rest of his life. Of course your everyday person would gladly settle for that if it was offered to them. However, how many people would turn down the opportunity of leaving a legacy and ensuring your kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are given the opportunity to be wealthy, too.

When talking about 100 grand a week here vs 250 grand there like, 100 grand would be still more then we've ever paid anyone like.

I think, last year, Moyes was on 65 and felli 70 and they were our top earners with nev and heitinga just below on 60 k.

****ing shocking behaviour (ponders Osman's recent contract deal)

The way we're likely to have lost our top 4 earners in the last six months (assuming johnny's off) and got better is something that isn't talked about enough, like. Our wages were insane. Dunno what Baines must have thought of it.

I dunno who the top earners are now. Think I'd heard Kone and Jags but I dunno how reliable that is.

Oh aye, but turnover is gonna increase massively. I think we've previously released figures indicating 75%-ish of turnover went on wages. So even if we were to reduce that percentage to say 70% of turnover, then we should easily be in a position to offer higher wages than we previously could.

How many of you would take a 39 million loss in a limited career simply to play for your boyhood club? Not even paul Scholes did.

Depends on how much he's actually spending now, how much he wants to spend in the future and what he's got earmarked for the rest. It's relatively easy to take a paycut to go and do something you love when you're not spending all you're earning anyway.

Mind you, I can't see him turning his back on the fortune that's going to be waved under his nose at ManU. But if he doesn't come home I reckon he'll end up regretting it

Insane wages have a place for special talents, but Nevile should have been on circa 6K per week based on ability.

It's all down to Rooney like.

His contract runs out in 18 months. Man U will offer him a lot of money to stay there, he wants to stay at man u he'll sign another 4 years and that'll be it, he doesn't sign it and this summer they'll offer him around europe when they can still get a payday from him so if he wants to go abroad or to london and he can.

He turns down Man U and also turns down any suitors not us then Man u are screwed, they can either deal with us or see him leave to us on a bosman in a year, anyway.

If he wants to come home, he can. If he doesn't, he won't. Either way we'll be able to put the story to bed soon enough.

Tbf, they weren't insane the way like city's are insane. We paid like the 10th most in the league and finished 6th.

By any standard we got good value for our money. They were insane in that 2 of our 3 highest paid players were sat on the bench while our best players who were winning us games were on much less.

I think he will either come here or **** off somewhere like PSG or MLS and live the chav lifestyle abroad on big money.

In the summer transfer window he will have 1 year left on his contract and be 29 that October so it will be interesting what RM does as even then I cant see Utd selling for less than £20 million even then.

If we make CL then I'd say he'd be sorely tempted. If this does happen, our priority would be replacing Lukaku. This might also interest Rooney as I can see him being dropped deeper and deeper at united and I reckon he wants to play as far forward as possible. Question is, how good will he be at playing up front on his own at 30/31, 120K a week good? I think so.

This. Not a lot of people get onto this, he wants to be the main man upfront, he could do that for us.
