Roberto Martinez discussion

There is no replacement...there will be NO replacement. Martinez is running the whole organisation now. He's not just the manager, he's the public face of the football club on and off the pitch. Who else is there, now that Kenwright is in absentia? He is Everton.

For those reasons, Martinez's position has never been stronger. Not only that, right now we're playing some of the best attacking football in the country, scoring shed loads of goals, 4 points off 5th (7 points off a CL spot), in the QFs of a cup (hopefully SFs by the end of the day) and he's ensured we have 4/5 of potentially the best players in the world in a couple of years in our team.

The feller's fireproof.

Enjoy this type of football and football education whilst you can; when Everton do eventually replace Martinez in 3-5 years time, you're likely to get the Tony Pulis/Sam Alardyce of the day rather than the AVB of the day.
Thank God Roberto came in and raised everyone's expectations, so that now we're able to marvel at how (if you look at the table from a certain angle, and just squint your eyes a bit) we're actually not that far away from the coveted 5th spot.

Best of the rest. Moving forwards without moving forward. Nil acceptable under Moyes, Nisi optimum under Martinez.

Aspiring for best of the rest is now better than actually being best of the rest. Playing to win without winning.

no mate it's not a fact - as in quantifiably proven; QED...It's just your opinion

you're stereo-typing sections of the support to justify this all or nothing pro Martinez stance corner you've painted yourself into.

Yes there are people who have seen nothing but Smith and Moyes, demographically there's bound to be.
Not that I claim any kudos in that direction of your condescending 'Football Education' slur but there are a vast majority out there could buy and sell you Re. football education and Knowledge.

Best ever PL points total, Everton playing the type of football only played by an Everton team since the great 1969/70 and 80s teams, a team in transition from old over the hill players to younger players who are the best of their generation.

It doesn't feel like much of a corner I'm in.

Two wins and a draw from our last three. Brought a little bit of positivity to the table even though we threw away the 20 then 3-2 winning positions. I think the 3rd goal on Saturday showed we are still alittle naïve. This includes the manager. Its times like that when I wish we still had the no nonsense players like stubbs at the back. Jags was missed too.
A win against Boro tonight will make us all look towards the SF and help us forget about the two points dropped.

and so MartinezFC is born. christened by the man who railed against the very idea of any one man being bigger than the club under the last manager.

you couldn't make up this hypocrisy.
Who is Everton identified with by the outside world? It's leader, it's figurehead?

Unlike under Moyes when Kenwright was there like a sticking plaster all over any upturn in football fortunes, Martinez is left now centre stage as the only figure that represents the club to the outside world.

From that ^^^ you got "The hypocrite's saying Martinez is Mr Everton".

I'd hate to see your maths results.

look at it this way then, there are in those 27 goals, No, count them, none, euro goals not to count and your point is??

Of those 27 nearly half were scored in the last 3 games Vs the bottom 3 teams...flattering to deceive.

The current squad properly guided and led are better than this.

not because of Martinez but in spite of him.

but as I keep saying and davek even agrees with me...He's not going anywhere

So you don't like us scoring loads of goals?

Oh dear. That's as Matt Damon a post as a post can be without it actually being Matt Damon.

The cult of the Moyesiah returns with a new deity and new blind zealots...

It's a statement of fact, not some Branch Davidian death cult pledge of allegiance.

He's Everton's face to the world. Maybe I'm wrong on that and people 'out there' think of Robert Elstone or Jon Woods as Everton's figurehead now blue bill has left a vacuum?

Exactly.

It's all good. ;)
