Roberto Martinez discussion

There is no replacement...there will be NO replacement. Martinez is running the whole organisation now. He's not just the manager, he's the public face of the football club on and off the pitch. Who else is there, now that Kenwright is in absentia? He is Everton.

The feller's fireproof.

and so MartinezFC is born. christened by the man who railed against the very idea of any one man being bigger than the club under the last manager.

you couldn't make up this hypocrisy.

I'd suggest that the boards he has worked for have tried to protect his squads as much as possible as they are aware that stability and continuity is the best way for them to achieve any success. Something that AVB has never shown in management, out of the 5 clubs he has managed, the only one where he has lasted more than 1 year is his current club but he has already announced he will be leaving at the end of this season. Everton as a club cannot afford to change our management setup and spend money on the players the new manager will want if he's only going to stay 1 or 2 seasons, an argument I was making recently to someone who had suggested Koeman as a replacement.

OK, he's won titles. One at Porto, who have won the league 7 seasons in the last 10 and Zenit who have won their league 4 seasons in the last 8. Fair enough, a league win is a league win, but it's hardly an unexpected achievement from an underdog, like Wigan winning the FA cup for example.

You will have to explain to me what tactical discipline is, I don't know what that means.
His sides leak goals, throw away points. AVB may be rigid but his teams look organised.

That's not tactical discipline though is it. That's defensive discipline, another thing altogether.
We are a tactically disciplined team. You only have to look at our shape when we do and don't have the ball and how that changes to see we are a tactically disciplined team.

That's defensive rigidity rather than tactical in general. Has this brought him better results in the Premier League than Martinez currently is, taking into consideration the squads at disposal?

He's gained a lot of respect from me since I said that due to his successes in Russia - in contrast to the embarrassing spell that Moyes had in sociedad

When you called him a failure he'd only just narrowly missed out on the title in Russia, he'd also won his first 6 games in charge and all in all had a pretty decent season, but you still classed him as a mercenary failure. I think you're just using anything you can think of as a stick to beat Martinez with and got badly found out for chatting bollocks.

.......and Bungle swings a big right and connects, Kev the Rat knocked back on his heels with that one....

An unusually composed performance from the rapey ewok here.

Bringing AVB in might make is tighter at the back but it would just stifle the attacking talents we have and I sure as Hell can't see him letting Stones bomb forward like he does. Just look at how the flair players of United are fairing currently; I bet Depay is kicking himself right now.

There was a time I defended Kev, I think in the Ched Evans thread, I feel like such a fool. Fairly sure it was @orchard that also pointed out I had previously defended @Adversus. I have much previous for poor character judgement.

He's got a 100% record in the CL this season you clown. He's also got the advantage of being available at the end of this season which I admit has influenced me to some degree.

I'm pretty sure even with the new TV deal we could comfortably afford to keep AVB on the books. From what I've read in the past his wage is very high and his pay-off after another failure is ludicrous.

Accept you've embarrassed yourself and move on Kev, maybe come back when you've watched some football matches.
