Our lack of money has nothing to do with United.

Agree with that. Our lack of money, and always moaning about it, is making us appear small-time. This perception means the top managers, players and investors aren't interested in us.

If we're fine with that, because we think of ourselves as big, then I can't see us improving.

BT who are cracking Sky's domination of football television.

Have Fellaini in their Premier League coverage advert alongside RVP and Bale.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22477115

BT has reported a rise in full-year profits and says it created 3,000 jobs in the UK in the past year.

Pre-tax profits rose 2% to £2.5bn for the year to 31 March, despite revenues falling 5% to £18bn.

The better-than expected results saw its share price rise by more than 10%.

The news comes a day after BT said it would offer free Premier League football to its broadband customers, in a challenge to BSkyB's dominance of the UK's sports pay-TV market.

Just saying.

If Everton are small time why are we in an 18 billion pound companies' ad campaign alongside Man U and Spurs ?

WTF had Thatcher to do with anything? You said that from your heart? Why?

Anyone, even fans from other teams, badmouthing her on an Everton forum will receive an instant brownie point. Or thumbs if we still had them. Just no need for it, mate. Stick to the topic.

The original topic relates to Dave Whelans comments RE Everton being a small club which I responded to and stated my opinions

I am not as you suggest some creeping sycophant on an Everton forum

I stand by every word that I have said so **** off

Love and peace MUFC OK (y)

Hes clearly mental Nev lad, just ignore him.

Don't know what you're trying to say but a club is its supporters, not its players.

How is that relevant to this debate or my last post? What do you mean by "a club is its supporters, not its players" ??

That we're a big club because if enough of us believe it then it must be true?

Fine. But most Evertonians are also concerned about winning. We want regular European football and we want to regularly challenge for trophies. If we were able to attract better players, managers and investors, we would stand a better chance of that.

Big clubs tend to attract the best. We're not attracting them.

Seriously, I don't think we need to change much. Even Kenwright can stay. Just 3 key appointments:

- new Chief Exec to oversee a global strategy to improve our status (marketing, sponsorship etc).
- new Director of Football to aid the Chief Exec in this strategy in football matters.
- new manager who refuses transfer deals which smack of small-time, who focusses on deals which appear big-time.

Perception counts for a lot in sport (as in life).

Thought you were going to delete this abortion of a red****e thread ?

If you read properly, you would have seen this post (of which there has been zero takers so far):

if 5 members say they want this thread locked, then i'll ask a mod to lock it. just write here "lock it"

haha! you're the one calling yourself a sycophant. You're the one inexplicably badmouthing Thatcher on a thread about Everton's status as a big club. You're a Man U fan who is telling an Evertonian to eff off...on an Everton fan forum!

You're a joke, basically.

@everyone else, if you don't wanna confront the debate of this thread, just reply "lock it" :lock:

Stuff like this is great! We need more things like this to push the perception we're big-time. I know many blues are saying we shouldn't care what others think, but really we should if we want to attract the best.

By the way, the link you wrote doesn't show anything with Fellaini...just the business story.

Insert Sky advert here

I don't know many people who don't want to be successful so stop throwing that tantrum. It's what you do when you're not successful that shows you for who you are. If anything is small time, it's your attitude. It comes off like someone who would pick a fight, get knocked out and then call the police.

Good luck in keeping up with the Jones'...look out for that tree, Forrest.

eh? what on earth you on about?

i'm suggesting we employ a trio of Chief Exec, Director of Football & Manager to improve our status in the wider world in order for us to be able to attract better talent to our club, and you're somehow relating this to be a tantrum, getting into fights and Forrest Gump.

Bonkers.

Can't be arsed with the ultra-sensitivity of some of yous. What I'm saying is essentially no different to what most of you say on the Board/Kenwright monster thread. So not even sure why you're all in a tizz over this.

UEFA club rankings (based on European performance over the last 5 years):

4 - Chelsea FC
5 - Manchester United
6 - Arsenal
17 - Liverpool
22 - Manchester City
24 - Tottenham Hotspur
50 - Fulham
67 - Newcastle United
76 - Aston Villa
82 - Everton
85 - Stoke City
89 - Birmingham City
92 - Portsmouth

We've got a way to go...

The only thing small time about us is Kenwright. If you take away history, trophies won, years spent in top flight football etc you are still left with us sitting in 6th place in the English premier league.

It's about getting us to agree that Everton are a small club.

What are the terms of reference? It's easy to define a small club - Torquay Utd - but how do you define a big club?

I asked this question on another thread once, but haven't seen an answer. Maybe it's further on in this thread. I'll keep scrolling.
