I will certainly breathe a sigh of relief when we reach 45 points that's for sure
Transitional period, as long as we're above 18th - I'll be happy.
You're on your own there. That's like saying United fans should be happy with midtable this season.
He's taking over a top 6 side & he needs to improve on it to be seen as a success to me. If he keeps us at the same level, it'll be a decent result, but if we drop back considerably it'll be nothing short of a massive fail imo.
I'll lay off him in his first seaosn provided we don't go down
I'll hold him to those standards you've given once he's got a season under his belt

That's a low bar you're setting there, merely staying up should never be a goal for us given where we've been for the last number of years & the squad we've developed. I don't think he should be given a 'free season' to basically **** it up & we should find that acceptable.
The man's just taken a side down and been in a number of relegation fighst prior to that. There's no guarantee he's up to managing a club with our expectations.
I think the people who are so cock sure about relegation not being a possibilty need to not get over confident
I think a lot of things would have to go wrong all at once for it to happen, but I'm not ruling it out
If we were 10th, I'd consider that a reasonable first season for him
I'd consider it, as going backwards mate.
There is no guarantee that he's the right man, or that he's up to the task, but if we're anywhere near the relegation places this season, then I hope Kenwright shoots him, as that would equate to abject failure.

You're quite right, but don't underestimate the work Martinez needs to do here. The previous manager's cherry picked from our staff, maybe unsettled others, and most of us have no idea how the ageing players he inherited are going to react to the change of manager yet. That's without factoring in how well BK and his crew are going to back him.
The players reaction to him is up to him to manage. He seems to have a manner about him that his previous players liked, so I doubt he'll struggle on that score. I'm sure he'll want to make changes to the backroom anyway, all managers do.
I'm not saying his job is easy though, far from it. I fully expect to see us fall short of where we have been this season, as I'm totally unconvinced by Martinez.

He hasn't had an opportunity to convince us though yet mate, and it's not that he Wants to make staff changes, he now HAS to make changes.
I just don't think some people see the difference between US replacing a good manager that's left, and, for example, Chelski replacing an underperforming manager![]()
